Today Mission Pie celebrates Earth Day by forwarding all proceeds to UC Santa Cruz’s Grow A Farmer Campaign:

Every year, 38 aspiring farmers live and learn on a 25-acre piece of land on the campus. The University is requiring the program to build permanent housing for its students to replace the tents in which they’d been housed.

Today’s apprentices make tomorrows farmers and tomorrows farmers help make tomorrows pie.

Link. Like we needed another excuse to eat pie. But seriously, get on down there and eat some pie.

Watch this, seriously. Who knew the Mission was on the cutting edge of the bootleg Cumbia scene?

This is a video from XLR8R TV, in which DJ Rupture sits down at Taqueria Cancun to explain what Cumbia is and why he loves it so much, and why piracy in certain circles ain’t so bad (it’s just another form of distribution).

And then he infiltrates one of our fine neighborhood bootleggeries with a spy cam to afford us a view inside this secret world. Also, he says stuff like, “Ever since I got into Cumbia, the numbers of CDs I have with women in bikinkis on the cover has skyrocketed.”
