Vegan Outrage Over New Weird Fish Menu

I’m not vegan, but I enjoy vegansaurus, thus I support vegansaurus’ vegan outrage over the new Weird Fish menu.  Take it away, vegansaurus!:

Sorry, I’m all about fostering open communications and being awesome about local restaurants with vegan options but FUCK YOU, WEIRD FISH. You cannot giveth fried seitan and then taketh away. Oh and replace it with a shaved papaya salad. You can shaved papaya GO TO HELL-A. That doesn’t even make sense but I AM SO MAD RIGHT NOW.

Oh yes and no more lunch or brunch. I hate my life.

Yeah!  Get ‘em!  But also: wtf, Weird Fish?

P.S. I’m pretty sure the ‘saurus pictured is Trey Anastasio from Phish. We can assume he’s vegan (hippie!), making him a highly appropriate vegansaurus, right?  Also: Weird Phish?  Not to brag, but I’m SO GOOD at image selection.

Sausage Plans Flacid; Weird Fish Swim Upstream, Breaking Bender's-Loving Hearts

Aw HELL NO!  2010, I’ve grown awfully fond of you, but you’re messing with my foodstuffs already and it’s only day 6.  Two items:

Item #1: The unveiling of Rosamunde: Mission District has been pushed from January 11th to a January 15th soft launch and a January 18th grand opening.  Sausage, soft, launch… these jokes write themselves, people.  Let’s just hope this story has a happy ending, hyuk hyuk hyuk. [SFoodie]

Item #2: The fine folks of Weird Fish have officially moved their asses out of Bender’s.  Burgers and fried things are to be replaced with sausages, sandwiches, potatoes.  Just when I thought I’d left the Eastern bloc behind me!  I eagerly await KevMo commentary on this critical update.  [Eater SF]

P.S. The title is a haiku.  Count ‘em syllables, I dare you.

Mission Farmer Enters HuffPo's Hot Farmer Contest

farmerdave

Listen up, the Mission district!  We need to rally together for a very special cause!

Local hot farmer David Stockhausen has been entered in The Huffington Post’s Hot Farmer contest!  Dave (no idea if he goes by Dave btw) was at #1 just this morning but has somehow slipped to #2.  We need to bump that shit back up!

Peep Farmer Dave here.  And here’s a li’l blurb about the gent:

David Stockhausen is the founder of Amyitis Gardens, a community-based farming project in San Francisco. The Amyitis mission is to educate and empower the Mission District community through food and farming. Amyitis links neighbors with neighborhood restaurants by cultivating backyard food gardens and exchanging the local produce for discounts on food and drinks. Amyitis provides local residents with the tools to farm their own yards, and restaurants with the most local produce possible- grown as close as a few blocks away.

My buddy Katie from Amyitis tells me produce grown in Mission backyards is then sold to places like The Corner and Weird Fish.  Yum.

The Mission positively framed in the national news, people!  Get on board already!  All you have to do is click a 10 on HuffPo here and we’re golden.

Good luck, David!

Vegan Update: Buffalo Trannies R.I.P.

Buffalo Trannies RIP

Yesterday I sacrificed all my vegan street cred and opted to get my seitan fix at Weird Fish instead of Bender’s.  Turns out they do not sell Buffalo Trannies anymore.  WHAT GIVES?  They didn’t even have a 6’8″ guy puking in the bathroom covered in empty PBR cans.  Bender’s is still king.

Speaking of Bender’s, I really like the idea of stuffing my face with some fried yo-yos right now.
