Best Arizmendi pizza I’ve had in a while

They’re pulling them out of the oven now during Sunday Streets! (Sunday Streets is right now!)

So this panda walks into a taqueria dot dot dot

Pablo Sandoval apparently ate at El Farolito last night and all I got was this crappy picture. Sorry, folks. I’m no good as a paparazzi.

I was in line by myself and the three guys in front of me started freaking out after he walked out. “Dude! That was Pablo Sandoval!” That kind of thing. I need to pay more attention.

No soup for you

Apparently you have to have a permit to serve streefood! Who knew? It’s a shame; that was really good soup!

Now, if it were free on the other hand. . .

Magic Curry Kart debuts Thai basil burgers on Cinco de Mayo

magic curry kart, thai burger, basil burger, food, hamburger, food cart, san francisco, mission district

Last night the Magic Curry Kart debuted its latest creation, the Thai basil burger – and it may be the best cross-cultural food mash-up since Zante’s Indian pizza. $5 a pop nets you a patty piled high with Thai basil, Sriracha mayo, mushrooms and deep-fried shallots – flavors that fuse to form a taste trifecta that ranges from spicy to sweet and savory.

Sound good? He’s setting up shop at Fabric8 at 22nd and Valencia RIGHT NOW so stop on by!

PBR for life

Our pal Sally from CurbedSF sends this our way and wonders:

Haven’t we moved onto Simpler Times or some shit?  I should get a Trader Joe’s neck tattoo.

Indeed!  Trader Joe’s neck tatoos and chest pieces for all!

(Thanks Sally!)

Mission High School has amazing food

Just for today at least. As a way to get the students the bring up their low California Standard Test scores, the principal of Mission High (who may be the coolest principal ever) gave them a challenge: raise your scores, and you get one of the following — giant carnival with a dunk tank, famous chefs cooking school lunch, or the opportunity to film him dancing the macarena. The students chose wisely. SFoodie has the important details:

Frances: Lamb confit sandwich on brioche bun with asparagus-potato salad
Slanted Door: Chicken or vegetarian curry with rice noodles
Delfina: Lumachine (shell-shaped pasta) with Sunday Supper sauce
Bi-Rite: Barbecue brisket sandwich with coleslaw and potato salad

DAMN!!

Read more about how these kids are about to get down on some awesome lunch options while you and I chow down on our turkey sandwiches we made this morning while half asleep.

Thoughts on post-sphincter caffeinated beverages

In case you missed my Vietnam live-blogging last month, I picked up some distinctively shitty coffee during my travels. Literally shitty. This coffee is called Kopi Luwak, and it has the unique production process of being eaten by a weasel, shat out, and roasted. It is the most expensive coffee in the world, which obviously means it’s the best. Funny, because you’d think it would be number 2.

After my post, several junkies predictably came forward and took my open invitation to try it out. In fact, most “coffee people” who hear about this crap don’t think twice about giving it a sip. What is it about coffee? I mean, I also love pizza, but if you told me the best pizza was the kind regurgitated by bears I would probably pass.

Anyway, I invited a crack-team over to sample this stuff with the condition that they write down their thoughts for the rest of you to enjoy. Read on, if you want to get the poop, err scoop:

In-N-Out Burgers in Dolores Park

Damn, this looks like fun. How about as soon as Chaac Mool moves out, we let In-N-Out in? Nobody could possibly be opposed to that, right?

Or maybe TCB Courier could put together some kind of arrangement? Their riders are pret-ty fast.

Pizza cat!

It’s everybody’s two favorite things, mushed together in a completely unholy manner at long last! Three cheers for Angela‘s friend Jeremy! I love pizza and cats!

Opening a restaurant is hard work

It’s going to be a Mediterranean place, and it’s on Valencia near 20th St.  I dig the arches.

This guy deserves a drink.  He just installed the chandeliers.
