Heavy Police Activity At The Blue Macaw

Held Inside
Walking around Mission Street last night around 1AM I stumbled into a big commotion outside The Blue Macaw. (formerly 12 Galaxies) There were about 10 cop cars and a few fire trucks and ambulances. One young woman was pulled out in a wheelchair-like stretcher. I got a few different accounts from various people on the scene, but wasn’t able to talk to anyone who seemed to be a reliable source. Anyone have any other insight into what went down?

UPDATE: Mission Local has the story.

A couple more pics after the jump.

About time I hear something about this. I saw it last night and have spent the day today trying to figure out what happened.

There was a stabbing outside of the club. This is just another in a string of several violent incidents outside of this club since its opening 6 months ago. I call upon all Mission district residents and business owners to voice their concern with the entertainment commission and demand the owners hold themselves accountable!

This place is just a den of underage drinking. Which leads me to believe that the regular violence there is probably a result of stupid high school age bullshit mixed with our favorite escalator, alcohol.

This town manages its nightlife about as well as a high school student whose parents are out of town for the weekend.

yeah i was at doc’s that night and it wasn’t really shit. just a ton of cops standing around and some drunkies acting all hyped or whatever.

but ooohh i didnt realize it was a ‘den’. i hear dens are really really bad. this place should shut down for sucking really bad, but then reopen as a real bar where people will go. and for god sakes i think everyone will at least agree to change the f-in name.

I was over at Doc’s Clocks that night and heard reports that a stabbing was the cause of the law enforcement activity

    Black people being violent… Again.

Somebody is calling for the business owner to be responsible, but this isn’t the fault of the business owner who is catering a club to young black adults. This is a problem with a culture that solves every problem with violence, and doesn’t place any value on human life.

It is unfortunate because young black people deserve places to have fun and go out. It is too bad things can’t just stay fun and often seem to go this route.

Wow. Because this is my post I feel like I should mention that your statements are hurtful, untrue and irresponsible.

I know it’s just an anonymous comment on a blog, but it still makes me mad to see this kind of discussion about people in our community.

      It’s 2010. Let’s get up to speed.

Additionally, if you’ve actually SEEN that place, you’d know that its hardly a black majority clientele.
