Switzerland Fun

Whoa! Two San Francisco artists we love love love are included in some kind of exhibition of drawings at some gallery in Zürich!

First there’s Maria Forde, whom you’ll remember from those rad t-shirts she does for Lost Weekend Video.

Then there’s Porous Walker, whom you’ll remember from THE MAVERICKS OF DIARRHEA.

The show is called “Home Party,” and it’s at Barbara Seiler Galerie through July 17. Stop by if you’re in the neighborhood!

People and Their Keys

Last week I wrote a mean-spirited post about wearing your keys on the outside of your pants.

The silver lining was that it made local artist Anna recall a book she made a while back. The next day, she posted some scans.

P.S. Anna, you should turn this into a blog. It’ll be huge!

Crispity Clouds of Porkaliciousness

On Friday, Ryan Farr of 4505 Meats picked a winner in our pork-related story contest. But here’s the twist: The winner mentioned that she might rather have a limited-edition print than a t-shirt (which was the promised prize), and Ryan obliged! What a guy!

So, here’s the beaut’ of a poster the winner picked. And there’re a couple more too, for sale only in the 4505 Meats Store.

Who Is Gentrifying the Mission?

Curbed SF ran a piece on Friday possibly crediting young tech types from Facebook and Google with the gentrification of the Mission, and then an anonymous commenter suggested otherwise:

the vast majority of the folks gentrifying the mission are hipster artist/musician/bartenders who are supported by their baby boomer parents. ever stop by a cafe on valencia around noon? probably not the tech workers hanging out idle in the cafes…

So is it the group up top or the pair below? WHO IS GENTRIFYING THE MISSION?
