Film crew blocking the bike lane

They were just right out in the lane, following some bros on the sidewalk, for a full block at least. Dumb.

Also, how dumb is it that “film crews” nowadays just have a DSLR on a gigantic mount? I want a film crew to look like a film crew:

    Oh wah.

Don’t get me started. Riding along Valencia after work is a catastrophe of people sitting in the bike lane doing various things.

I don’t sit in the car lane when I want to adjust my pants or collect food or some such. There’s always a driveway or some other spot ppl could camp in for a second or two without obstructing anyone. Fail.

Baby can’t ride bike around them for a block?!

Film crews are small in SF, and this is a norm. Low-budget films survive on minimal crew, especially shooting guerrilla in busy locations such as this. No permit costs needed, and you get done what you need to get done much quicker.

It’s more than just a “Gigantic Mount”.

Its for stability, DSLR’s are terrible with rolling shutter, Rigs HELP eliminate this, ables the the op. to do smooth pans without the assistance of a tripod. They are also usually equipped with a follow focus which allows you to exact with your focus pulling, allows a focus puller. Also allows for a variety of filters…

    Hardly just a “gigantic mount”

Hey, what’s the deeaaaal with these gigantic camera mounts? Who are the geniuses that came up with these things?

Not everyone is a hero who can get phone-pic gold from the shadows across the street, try to show some empathy.

So sick of people on bikes thinking the world revolves around them. Film crews are good for the San Francisco economy. There is a world out there and bike riders are not even a speck in it. I think you should concentrate instead on following driving rules: stop at stop signs, red lights etc. The Mission is full of entitled idiots whose Mama’s never taught them manners. Wake up. You are not that important.

  7. mart says:

I believe there is room for both, cars and bikes. Bike riders however seem to feel superior that they’ve made such a choice. Get off it. Get ride of the attitude and share the city with the rest of us. Entitled, newcomers, lacking manners indeed.

What? What’s that? I’m sorry, I can’t understand what you’re saying while you’ve got a dick in your mouth.

    • EH says:

when was the last time you had to drive around a bike parked in the traffic lane?

    • rod says:

      get ride of your attitude!

    • rod says:

btw i’ve never met a cyclist that feels ‘superior’ because they have a bicycle. it’s weird that you’ve created this little fantasy in your head and projected it upon an entire mode of transportation for the purpose of antagonizing people. i really hope you aren’t out there driving a car among cyclists and pedestrians.

  8. mart says:

p.s. Persons on bikes do not own the Mission It is a vibrant multi-cultured, multi-faceted community. Grow up. Have you ever heard the word SHARE?

    • Fiid says:

Tell it to my friend who got put in the hospital by a driver who ran a red light, cracked a couple of his vertibrae (IIRC) and missed his 5 year old son (in a bike trailer) by about 2 feet, before disappearing off. Hit and run.

      Grow up.

I walk, drive and bike daily in the city, so please don’t get the impression I’m all pro cyclist and anti everyone else. I also believe that there is room for cars and bikes, and also pedestrians, which you excluded from your list. I’ve seen terrible unsafe behavior from all of those groups, and they all need to improve their standards. Cyclists and pedestrians do seem to cause less damage when they hit things though.

Allan. This is really embarrassing. You see an obstruction in front of you while biking, you just have to look over your left shoulder to make sure it’s clear and go around the said obstruction. it’s e a s y.
I agree the small DSLR looks awkward on top of the giant mount, but I’m fairly sure the camera man is happy he doesn’t have to carry a huge camera along with that giant mount.
As for entitled riders in this city I couldn’t agree more with Mart. You act like silverbacks pounding your chests, but you are not anything but some scrawny kids.

    What I said.

    I am small man.

  12. Tom Verniere says:

Don’t you worry… I have it documented and blog about it elsewhere ;-) . You just made it interesting.

  13. Tom Verniere says:

I grant you this though… “I am small man” – that was pretty funny! ha ha. You do have humor even if you lack sarcasm.

  14. Tom Verniere says:

Good call. English is actually my second language…

    • Allan Hough says:

Like I said, nothing about this is interesting.

      • Tom Verniere says:

Yet you felt the need to censor me on your page… or “edit” as you like to call it. Alrite I’m done on here.

      • lets be fair says:

The photography on this website is some of the worst out there. Most of the time you guys are too timid to get the good photo, opting instead to stand across the street and fake a text.

The only thing the blog is really good for is the stories about crimes and other incidents of note around the neighborhood. The blurry photos don’t add much info to the story. Maybe you need to make friends with the the next film crew you come across.

        • lets be fair says:

Mission local has some pretty decent videos on their site and lots of good photos. There is nothing wrong with trying a little harder.

And why are you making fun of ESL students? People from other countries are people too bro. And in most cases they are better people than you.

finally a comment worthy of my laugh

And the jerky comments! Don’t forget the jerky comments!

  15. mart says:

Oh da kids get so angry. What was that about a DICK? Sorry, I would have loved that (YUM)! but it was already shoved up your ass. Be careful child when sitting down.

  16. Tyler says:

Ha ha! This is so fucking silly. I love it. That’s me with the big ass DSLR rig blocking the bike lane. You know what I do when I’m riding my bike and a car, video crew or your chubby ass mom on her Breezer bike clogs up the bike lane? I sack the fuck up and go around.

    Loves!

  17. Mark Vogel says:

Well, you know what the internets mom always says…..”if you don’t have anything nice to post on your blog, don’t post anything at all.”

I am CONTINUALLY embarrassed to ride a bike as much as I do, when I am constantly bombarded by arrogance, intolerance, and hostility….ON THE PART OF OTHER RIDERS. Learn how to flow or go back to walking, please. I continue to ride despite the fact that the vast majority of ‘riders’ in this- my home for 25 years- ‘city’ are suburban divas on 2 wheels. Pay dues, sack up, ovary up!
