Last night I was running late for a thing at the Brava, but on my way out of Bender’s I’d borrowed what looked like a french fry dipped in ketchup from someone’s basket. It turned out to a french fry dipped in third-degree-burn sauce, so I decided to stop into Humphrey Slocombe for a cooldown. My friend Mike and I both got Secret Breakfasts, in cones. They were pretty good, but not as good as they got when paired with shots of Beam procured at Pop’s with zero minutes to spare before the curtain went up at the thing.

Half-running from the ice cream shop to the theater:
“Hmm, think we should stop at Pop’s and get some bourbon?”
“Hmm, yeah, we probably should.”
I wholeheartedly encourage everyone to try this out.

Pal’s Take Away, first day. The asparagus-and-egg (above) was the star of the show, and quite beautiful as you can see. I never thought a roasted pork sandwich could be summery, but this one with its herby mayo and big fluffy bun was SUM-MER-Y:

For dessert, strawberry jam and almond butter, gooey and sweet:

Two weeks ago, my friend Mike and I ran into Mai from Fashionist in line at Mission Street Food. Mike and I are quite fashionable, so Mai took some pictures and the whole thing resulted in probably the best Fashionist post to date.
As part of tonight’s fan appreciation night, MSF and Fashionist are teaming up for real. Mai will be out front meeting fashionable diners all night long, photos will be posted soon thereafter, at which point voting will commence. The best-dressed folks get a free future dinner (wine included). Link.
Plus: The cheesesteak is back!!

Kevin Montgomery just snapped this shot of 24th Street’s newest restaurant-to-be, China Fun Fast Food. Kevin wonders, “I wonder how fun it will be.” Link.
Thanks, Kevin!

Plebiscite just unleashed a flurry of photos of porky goodness. Drool over all of them right here.
