Street Food Turf War

Yesterday the New York Times published a phenomenal piece on the street food explosion in NYC and its resulting turf war.  Given our own street food renaissance, it is interesting to see how our east coast friends are handling a similar situation: a hazmat truck stand-off, narcing, threats of settings each other on fire, and black-market permits.  Oh, New York…

Interesting within the NYC context, but let’s not pretend our “street food” has anything to do with street food as the term is understood in the rest of the country. I mean, creme brulee is nifty and all, but where’s our goddamn falafel cart?

well then it would seem that we await a supplier of our demand.

On a side note, did anyone else find it oddly weird to see the bacon wrapped dogs in daylight near the park this weekend? In particular did anyone notice the one cart that had a side game in “sexy” movies?

Oh yes, a falafel cart is a requirement. And shawarma.

And Singapore noodles, for the love of god. In fact, noodles came in at a combined 28% on my street food poll. When do 28% of people in this city agree on anything?
