This was done to support and draw attention to the case of the San Francisco 8, former Black Panthers and community leaders falsely charged in a 37-year-old murder case with weak evidence obtained under torture. 5 of the 8 have now been exonerated of all charges.

Oh absolutely — the Black Panthers were the sweetest bunch of guys to ever walk the earth. Riiiiiggggghhhhhtttt. And Timothy McVey was simply misunderstood…

  5. Max says:

The Black Panthers were community organizers, people fighting against white supremacy and state violence who uplifted their communities with food, clothing, health care, education, legal support, and a strong opposition to police brutality. They were not and are not terrorists. And actually, since you mention it, the Panthers I know are some of the sweetest guys I’ve ever met. So it might behoove you to educate yourself before you go around slinging that nonsense. You might have heard some racist tirade about them from your dad or someone told you the Panthers hated white people, but that doesn’t really qualify as good information, does it? The government has had a long history of persecuting this organization because it fears the strengthening of the black community, that people might actually fight for their own rights and self-determination. Get your facts straight.
