Cop Watching

Police/Cops
Does anyone else notice that there are a lot of cops around tonight?

Low-Prof Plainclothes stopping dealers; Blue-Suited Busters pulling over people who don’t have a license and barely seem able to drive (seen here); and Red Zone Rollers lurking in their cars, watching the 16th and Mission Thursday Slam Jam.

There was a big, mobile-commandy-type wagon posted up at the corner of 24th and Treat all day. Curious.

It was a full moon last night. My pseudo-scientific observations have shown that the Mission goes bat-shit crazy when there’s a full moon. The cops were ready.

I’ve been noticing a lot more cops around the Mission than usual lately. I don’t see it as a bad thing.

The new police chief is being sworn in today (7 August), so that might be the reason.

I think its part of the new police chief coming to town. Things are gonna be changing and I bet some station captains/commanders/whoever runs that show are thinking “I better have some sweet ass stats when the new boss comes to see how things are going.” It’s the classic last minute clean up of the house before the parents get back from their trip.

Definitely a little more action than usual last night, judging by the sirens.

I have noticed at least two bicyclists pulled over in the past few days. Does anyone know what they are giving tickets for?
