Why You Just Can't Bring Yourself to Eat at Ti Couz

Cultural commentator generic explained in a post last night:

It’s 50 yards away from me, and by all accounts the food is great. But the name creeps me out.

Because it reminds him of “cooze.” And then in reply to a reply:

I can’t think of white trash porn while I’m eating a crepe. Deal. Breaker.

To this I say, how about a salad? Ti Couz’s big bowls of salad are maybe even more delightful than the crepes. And healthier!

That place is awesome for a weekend brunch. Also, the salads are indeed delightful. I recommend.

The people in the photo are actually not together, but at separate tables. That is why I don’t eat there. It’s like sitting on a plane and trying to have a nice dinner.

  3. MrEricSir says:

Sorry, but the food there… no, just NO.

This city is lousy with crepe places. Go find a decent one and eat there.

    • chalkman says:

please name a better crepe place in the neighborhood, the bad crepes in the neighborhood are at Frjtz I’d say….

      • MrEricSir says:

Would much rather go to Frjtz or Crepevine.

But let’s be honest here, neither of those places are great either. They are, however, quite a bit cleaner.

You should try the Hair Pie. Ive heard its delicious.

Seriously though, Ti Couz is totally lovely.

  5. friscolex says:

    • generic says:

and that’s all very well and good except that babelfish doesn’t have a douche-to-english option.

      • friscolex says:

        I think that’s shower-to-English, ha!

Wish I could write more, but I have to go sob quietly in the corner after today’s match results…

  6. Cranky Old Mission Guy says:

The thing that creeps me out, and prevents me from eating there, is the vision that I have in my mind of the people who might go there for meals — the ones I might have to see and hear while I wait for my food. I’m sorry, but I prefer to cook for myself, before eating in the company of Mission “foodies”. Y’know?

  7. chalkman says:

dessert is the bomb at Ti Couz….

  8. Neo Displacer says:

I haven’t been there in a while but 10 years ago it was good. Like others have said, the salads were a stand out. Also the sidecar was decent. And finally, it is a cheek-to-jowl place. One time I was on a date there, maybe a 2nd date I can’t remember for sure. As we sat conversing I look to my left and the person there is eavesdropping. I look to my right — eavesdropping. I’m thinking jeez my life and my date can’t be that interesting, isn’t your date more interesting?

i’ve had mixed experiences with the food, but the ti couz ten is delicious and those outdoor tables are good for people watching.

What is wrong with you people?! A lot of great places are small and you have to share a table (Yamo, Lucky Creation, etc). I prefer the side with the scalloped bar where you sit close to others because it’s more quiet than the side with the tables. I like chatting with strangers. I don’t mind people eavesdropping. It must mean I’m not boring. And how did you KNOW they were easedropping, anyway? Did they have their cupped hands to they’re ears craning their necks and gawking, maybe taking notes? Everybody eavesdrops! If you don’t like people, stay at home. Sitting outside is great on a nice day, too.
Ti Couz is bomb even now that I don’t go there because I’m vegan. :( Their salads are great, (i could still have that, but i’d miss the mushroom/almond crepes, and the chocolate mousse in a crispy crepe!) their crepes come with sauce whereas other places give you a dry-ass crepe. BORING. Ti Couz rocks.

And WHAT is up with that woman in the picture? She either has MS or whatever (in which case, i’m sorry to comment) OR she thinks the photographer is just taking a photo of her bowl of soup and wants to keep out of it. AWKWARD! (They’re sitting at a normal table for 4 btw to comment on someone else’s comment.)

  12. Josie says:

One more thing….I had to look up cooze. Thanks for the vocab add. I’m going to assume that the woman in the photo is…NOT…a cooze, am I correct?

I love Ti Couz! I’ve actually wondered why it isn’t more popular these days. I remember getting dragged their with my sister when I was 18, 10 years ago, and it was paaaacccked. I guess people just move on sometimes, but I still love it. The tomato + scallop crepe is my favorite, along with the french onion soup (obvi) and the seafood salad.

Also, they served me alcoholic cider when I wasn’t legal. And in adorable little bowls that you DRINK OUT OF! Okay, so maybe it’s just a sentimental thing for me, but Ti Couz will always hold a special place in my San Francisco heart.
