When that friend of yours who never comes to the Mission finally comes to the Mission and has the time of his life

The guy on the right there. Lived in the Mission for five years like ten years ago or something, had his fill, moved elsewhere, comes back only once in a while. But last night I talked him into Slow Jams at the Make-Out Room (every Tuesday night, free) and he had the time of his life! Slow dancing, 1960s prom-style decor, cheap drinks, comfy booths. He says he’s going back next week. Time of his life, just look at him!

The Mission wins again.

  1. sometimes says:

it’s all relative. u think he had “the time of his life” because he doesn’t do it often.

    could it be…that:
the mission is good- for only once in a while

    ?

  2. Village Idiot says:

Mitt Romney used to live in the Mission? Who knew!

  3. wheeeeeee says:

Best thing I have ever read. Thanks so much.

  4. Skeptical says:

No, he does not look old.

  5. Marianne says:

    I miss slow jams.

  6. Haz Been says:

There’s still some good left out there. Any bar on a Tuesday is usually pretty rad, even (gasp) North Beach.

  7. hahaha says:

BORING!IS THIS ALL YOU GUYS CAN WRITE ABOUT AT THIS PIVOTAL POINT IN HUMAN HISTORY? WITH OBAMA SIGNING AN EXECUTIVE ORDER WHICH GIVES HIM CONTROL OF ALL OF THE INTERNET. MEGAMARCHES IN MEXICO BECAUSE OF ELECTORAL FRAUD WHICH DONT EVEN MAKE THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA IN THE U.S

The district where a bar is could have nothing to do with the fact that someone has fun somewhere.

  9. shemp9999 says:

Yep. all signs point to the 1997-99 mission being back.

  10. wheeeeeee says:

yeah. i guess you have the creds to change all of my posts to read what you want them to read. i just lost all interest/respect for this blog.

    • Allan Hough says:

      We’ll miss you! (Not.)

      • wheeeeeee says:

Oh, did i hurt your feelings because I said this was the dumbest thing I’ve ever read? Your bio says you are 31, but methinks you seriously need to GTFU.

One would think that you would want to EXPAND your readership, not deplete it by rewriting people’s posts and acting like a whiny little bitch.

Good luck with your “journalism” career (not!).

        • Allan Hough says:

Putting “journalism” in quotes and then saying “not” after is a double negative, bro. You just *actually* wished me well on my journalism career. Thanks!

BEST THING I HAVE EVER READ.

  12. scum says:

Drinking Corona in a can is having the time of your life? Sounds rather pedestrian to me.

  13. it's me! says:

More importantly: WHO WON THE TICKETS?

  14. Skeptical says:

Changing comments that people write is going too far, Alan. Why even bother with reader generated comments if you’re going to censor everything that’s negative? Sure, it might make you and your friends feel better about themselves, but if you’re trying to run a blog that will continue to grow readership, you’ve just got to suck it up and take the bad with the good. It also makes it a more engaging read for the rest of us.

    • D. Jon Moutarde says:

Hey Truth, he doesn’t fuck with ALL negative comments…

    • Allan Hough says:

Going too far by what measure? This is not a democracy. This is my blog and I will behead your shitty comments if I feel like it. I work hard on this and I’ve been working hard on this for a long time. If there’s something you don’t like about it, I’m sorry but you’re just going to have to deal — or voice your opinions in a way that isn’t rude. Because yeah, I have feelings. And the people I post about have feelings. And just because this is a public forum or whatever doesn’t mean I have to shut up and take it when some fucker like you wants to shit all over something. If you don’t like something, move on and enjoy something you do like. Or if you must comment, try a different tone or something and maybe it’ll survive.

I’m having difficulty coming up with something clever and erudite in support of your blogocracy…so here: GOOD ON YER MATE!

      • wheeeeeee back says:

ha ha! really!??! because my original post was simply: “Dumbest thing I ever read. Thanks so much.”

Damn, you have incredibly thin skin.

Good luck! May you and your silly little friends enjoy this circle jerk.

ps- I sincerely doubt that Brock or TK would EVER rewrite someone’s comment. Delete away, but REWRITING is, is, … i don’t even know WHAT that is.

        • DJM says:

Your text is not the central problem. The big problem that you seem determined to create, over and over again, under a multitude of names, is your hammering, boring, pile-driving, repetitive obsession with your deeply personal message — which is so at odds with what is going on at this blog that any normal person would have simply lost interest and wandered away ages ago.

You are a disturbed individual, and you should seek professional help as quickly as possible.

yo, that was a GREAT Slow Jams, glad you guys made it!
