Pierogi party tomorrow

A fresh comment on our announcement about SF’s last big pierogi party:

Great Scott!!! PierogiSF is coming Back<<< To The New Taste Marketplace! Noon – 5pm tomorrow, Saturday, March 12th. All traditional potato & onion this time, since they sold out before many pierogi seekers were able to experience a blast from their past. But beware, no DeLorean time machine can save you if we run out again, so be sure to come early!

Don’t be tardy!

How to survive the next San Francisco earthquake

TK has a series of tips for before, during and after. Here’s some of the after:

- The first thing you should do is try and figure out who your Leader will be in the Post-Apocalyptic Nightmare that you now inhabit. Try to gravitate towards people wearing animal skins and carrying guns. The Leader should be charismatic but also quietly assured and have a spiritual side that he doesn’t reveal, except maybe in one scene with Mila Kunis.

- You will need to rebuild the shattered world, so be the first to loot a nearby hardware store.

- Try to stay out of the Rivers of Blood. God knows what weird diseases those people had.

Solid advice, TK! Read on.

Indie-pop cover of ‘I Wanna Be Your Lover’ by La Bionda

Not better than the crippling amazing original, but not bad.

(Thanks, Rebecca!)

Bike builder

This very short film depicts Chas of TCB Courier putting a bike together.

Now, go order a sandwich.

Undercover Ecto 1

Someone needs to tell these guys that they forgot one of their traps on 24th Street and now Slimer is on the loose and is making out with all the Mission babes.  And someone took their decal.

Spotted on one of those streets named after a state.

One of us will have to die before this thing ends

Let’s just dive right in. Here’s the intro to an interview I did with The Troublemakers for a garage music zine in 1998 (around the same time I did that interview with the Tiki Men):

In the vein of The Sonics and, more recently, the Mummies and such, The Troublemakers play garage punk in its purest form. They take the stage in their famous zebra-striped vests, pegged pants, and beatle boots, and rock the house with loud and snotty 60′s styled tunes and Back From The Grave covers brimming with treble and a fierce 90′s punch. “The house” usually being Sacramento, California’s famous ‘Old Ironsides’ neighborhood tavern, where, this past November, The Troublemakers released their first LP on Germany’s Screaming Apple Records. This record is easily one of the best garage records of the 90′s… so get it.

They only play about once a year these days, and today is that day. Problem is, once again, they’re playing at Old I in Sacramento. But it’ll be worth the trip, I’m sure. These Troublemakers are a rowdy bunch.

Kickass sunset

We’ve had some classics lately, this one captured expertly by outbound.

I declare, more walks to the top of Mt. Bernal are in order.
