It's Fall Time in the Mission

All you people from the Midwest are always like, “I miss the seasons; you guys don’t know what fall colors are like; etc.” But how about the brilliance of this ginkgo biloba tree on 25th street, in the dead of night — in the dead of December?

Don’t get that in Michigan.

Lit by gray old street lights and photographed by a crummy cellphone no less, and still, gorgeous.

    Oh Thank you.

I put in my time. I grew up in central Minnesota and later lived in Portland for 8 years. I was a good sport about it too. But now I’m happy to say I’m done with seasons! All of ‘em!

Sure the passage of time is harder to mark when it’s always sunny and 67° but that’s mostly just cutting out all of the this-weather-is-horrible conversations I might have had while pining for an end to it. Yay retirement!

I was having that exact thought this morning; I miss the fall, but I’m glad we have these amazing ginkgos!
