Broke-Ass Stuart’s version of the pickleback will contain locally sourced artisanal pickle juice

As mentioned before, Stuart has been holding down a Wednesday evening bar tending shift at Dear Mom. To make things a little more interesting, starting tonight, he’s making picklebacks:

The Pickle Back is a shot of whiskey with a shot of pickle juice as a chaser.  I know at first it sounds gross, but really, it’s amazing!  The pickle brine cuts right through the whiskey making even the most rotgut stuff totally tolerable.  But I’m not feeding you that rotgut shit; we’re doing Dickle with the Pickle Back.  And it’s even fancy pickle juice.  I’m getting the stuff  from the fine gentlemen ofWise Sons, who are already famous for the food truck and will be even more so when their new deli opens up on 24th St.

Stuart also implies that he’s the first to bring this concept to SF, but that’s erroneous because I’ve had many picklebacks at Mission Hill Saloon, and a few at Beauty Bar. But Stu’s are made with care and are still only $4, so who gives a shit? Let’s get drunk!

Purple drank drink special tonight at Beauty Bar

Get some purple drank in your tank this evening at the lovely Beauty Bar with another nostalgic installment of the nineties fueled Big Fun. Tonight 100% Silk recording artist Magic Touch is at the helm while djs Nu-Jack of Jock Jams and Pickpocket of Donuts heat up the place with “house music, booty bass, 90′s r&b, freestyle, ghettotech & more!” Admission is always free and $4 gets you a mystery mix of gin and purple drank. While there’s no guarantee on the potency of the purp stuff, the photobooth pictures in your back pocket will surely jar your memory tomorrow morning.

No eating in bars?

According to local bartender Rachel, the author of Mission Drinking Rules, a recent feature from Night Fog Reader, one should never eat in bars:

Why are you bringing your burrito/BBQ/whatever stinky food you got and think its OK to scarf that down in a bar? I’ve seen this for years and it will never stop. You stink up the bar, you smell like what you just ate, and you are thatperson. I would never ever ever ever eat at a bar, and I work at one! I would rather go eat outside than sit at a bar and look like a dumpy eating a burrito by myself.

I mean, I wouldn’t try to eat a burrito at Beauty Bar on a Saturday night, but, “never ever ever ever” seems like a bit much. For instance, sometimes you need a nice cool veggie sandwich to compete with the intense heat of, say, a chilaquile bloody mary (which is my plan for about 20 minutes from now), and sometimes it’s fun getting a pizza delivered at 1:45 so you have something in your belly to soak up all that whiskey and pickle juice you ordered at last call. And I love eating outside too, but sometimes the weather in San Francisco is not so good for something like that. Right? Maybe not.

Surprise Sheryl Crow live acoustic set last night at Beauty Bar?

It’s true too. We checked with her management company AND her Twitter. AND her Tumblr. It’s true. Janebook doesn’t lie.

Anyway, I’m sorry I missed it. I hear her new stuff is dope.

What Happened at or by Beauty Bar Last Night?

Some kind of crime or something was committed at Beauty Bar last night!! Or near Beauty Bar. Maybe. Christi reports:

Anybody know what happened last night @ or by Beauty Bar? Police cars, firetrucks, crowds on the street, oh my!!

More importantly, do you guys think there is a crime being committed in this completely unrelated photo I just found?

UPDATE: Torrey fills us in: “A bartender kicked some dude out for groping girls, dude started a fight, and a third party maced them both, which, as you can imagine, exacerbated the situation.  Authorities were summoned.  Not a whole lot of fun for anyone involved (I wasn’t there but the bartender is a friend. A friend who, I might add, often puts himself in harm’s way in order to protect the honor/safety of his patrons.  Three cheers for chivalry).” Thanks, Torrey!

New Beauty Bar Paintjob Perfectly Matches That of Furniture Center Across the Street

I thought we all liked the purple; what gives? On the other hand, it’s kind of nice, like how Treasure Island and the Mirage are across from each other and their signs have the same lettering.
