The Flossed World

Somebody strung a shit-ton of floss between a pole and a tree or something at 19th and Valencia on Saturday. And they strung it tight, too. You could throw yourself into it and you’d bounce right off.

Moreover, that installation supported the weight of two full-grown adult humans! They climbed it! A bunch of floss! They climbed a bunch of floss — and chilled out for a while when they got to the top!

I love epic Saturdays in the Mission.

UPDATE: Climbers climbing!

SF Islands Poster!

Back in MayBurrito Justice imagined a world where we’d be docking our canoes on the shores of a Dolores Park Island Oasis on sunny weekends. Boy, I’d hate to be downstream from the river west of Dolores Park. The water probably runs yellow, if you catch my drift.

This  amazing SF islands map is now a poster for sale on Zazzle in three different sizes. He says you can get it in time to deliver to your San Francisco-loving friends for Christmas. It’s way better than socks!

23″ x 23″ for $25, 15″ x 15″ for $16. 11″ x 11″ for $11.

Also, here’s some visual aid, courtesy of Johnny0 (note that the treacherous conditions have had little effect on the brunch line at Boogaloos):

Thanks, Dude

Check it out! Thanks, Dude and all your other favorite Tika Hall comics are now available on Etsy. Ideal for those of you that are freaked out by human interaction.

Pabst Ferret

“Oh why oh why the PBR?” moans a comment on this new work by Hayley Cassatt, ”Seems a little low-brow for such a sleek & elegant animal!”

I say that comment seems a little snooty for such a punk rock blog. PABST FERRET!

All We Know of Heaven and All We Need to Know of Hell

Two years ago today, I read Sexpigeon for the first time. I didn’t immediately get it, but it looked okay, so I subscribed, and within days it was blowing my mind.

Since then, I’ve learned tons from this modest little blog. About humor, about drama, about blogging and journalism and documentary and fiction, about poetry and music and food and sex, about life and love and friendship. It has made me a better person. I’m retarded for this blog.

Sexpigeon published a sweet goodbye to San Francisco yesterday, and today left for New York City, for keeps. San Francisco won’t feel right for a while.

San Francisco Park Maps

Cartographer Penelope Popsicle yesterday published a handful of maps of various San Francisco parks, based on a boring Planning Department map but much prettier. Doesn’t Dolores Park look inviting?
