New local music blog makes first foray into concert promotion

Positive Destruction (whose name comes from that Pitchfork article about the burgeoning SF garage/psych scene) spent the summer proving itself to be a useful local music resource, and now they’re throwing their first event.

I know for a fact that Pamela rules, but see here for more info on all the bands including some mp3s for your listening pleasure.

Come DJ with us!

We’ve got a room going on Turntable. So far there’s me, our business manager Nick Pal, our pal Cosmic Amanda, and real-life DJ Tristes Tropiques, who you might remember from Friday’s edition of American Tripps. If it’s fun, maybe we’ll make it a regular Friday afternoon thing.

Get stoked for the 2011 Rock Make Street Festival with this handy mixtape

The Bay Bridged today broadcast a podcast that acts as a mixtape highlighting a bunch of the bands performing at this year’s fest:

Rock Make is a free, all ages, all day event, featuring tons of local arts and crafts vendors showcasing their wares between two stages of great local indie bands. There will also be local food vendors and a local beer and wine garden for you to enjoy throughout the day.

Rock Make is a wonderful celebration of the best of SF DIY and independent arts and culture, and we hope you’ll join us there.

Craig Ventresco and Meredith Axelrod – Cold Mornin’ Shout

Here’s Craig Ventresco and Meredith Axelrod killing at Porto Franco Record’s Mission HQ. She’s just playing guitar in this one, but Meredith is also a remarkable singer. Check out this clip of her singing about the lost San Francisco dance sensation, the Grizzly Bear.

In case you missed it, they play every Saturday at Atlas Cafe from 4-6pm.

Two Gallants transfer

I can’t believe I didn’t know this poster existed. Former Mission District golden boys Two Gallants show poster that looks like a giant Muni transfer! Amazing. Found at Place Pigalle in Hayes Valley.

BONUS: Thomas informs us that they’re playing at The Independent on the 23rd and 24th of this month! [Thanks Thomas!]
