Hordes of Dorks Do Stuff in Unison in Dolores Park

Reader Bryan Haggerty pointed us toward this Improv Everywhere video, in which a bunch of people gather in the park and listen to the same mp3 at the same time. The mp3 tells them to do stuff, and they do it, and it’s all sponsored by Yahoo! and they got a helicopter to shoot aerial footage. Link.

Update: mcas says, “I, too, love doing things so I can spend the next 4 days at my over-paid tech job looking through flickr for photos of myrself to add to my facebook.” Haha!

My roommie was in the park when this happened and had no idea what was going on! When she told me about it we were thinking it might have been some stupid commercial or something… hmm. Hordes of dorks are always doing silly thing in the park though, maybe not in unison but often in [hipster] uniform.

seriously! wouldn’t that be nice, take the day to dress in bright colors and serve the yahoo mp3. come on people. save your helicopter gas…

That’s a lot of work for something so lame.

Wow, didn’t realize there were so many haters on this blog. It was a lot of fun to participate in. To the other commenters: did you realize that the point might not have been to provide YOU with entertainment? Also, it doesn’t take a tech job to afford an MP3 player, I guarantee you already own one…

    Sean:

Trust me, I don’t hate on you for owning an mp3 player– (I owned the first- the 16 MB Zen…).

I’ll not speak for anyone, but the idea of doing all these flashmobs is not for fun at the time, but for bragging (on and off line) later.

Besides, this one wasn’t about fun– it was sponsored by Yahoo! and will be used for advertising. Congratulations on your big break into shilling for a multi-national conglomerate. Too bad you didn’t get anything out of it (other than some good facebook photos, I hope!)
