  1. I’m hella excited about these new jeans. The prototypes we got are spectacular. The denim is interesting, but I’m really excited about all the subtle touches these jeans will have. I’m the tailor for Self Edge, so this is going to be a crazy weekend for me. I’ll probably be hemming 200 of the 300 jeans available. Oi!

    So reality check time y’all:

Jeans are pants, specifically a garment on your lower body -and as far as sight-lines go, they’re below the belt. The notion to pay over-the-top for something not so visible is only a little more important than socks.

How someone pays the prices of the jeans (yes, fuckin jeans!) that this shop carries is BEYOND comprehension and frankly disgusting.

Here’s some general comparisons on a standard jean:

    $30 – Old Navy
    $45 – Gap
    $60 – Levi’s

And the “The Self Edge, Superfuture, Dry Bones” jeans?

    …not 100, not 150, not even 175…

    They’re $275.

Why hell, at that price I’ll take 5 for every week day -and throw in a few more for the weekend. Fuck it!

So fuckin stupid… what’s next? Designer socks that run $75-100 a pair?

    -Chuck

    PS:
You’ll find me out wearing my designer jeans that I scored from the likes of Crossroads etc for 20 buk, but wearing a $400 Ted Baker jacket that makes me look the bomb… :)

You’d wear a “Ted Baker” jacket.
    End of story.

come on Nibbly. you know how it is in reality…ya don’t like the goods….don’t shop the store.

market determines value…whether for the goods or the storefront itself.

my bet: they sell the shit out in a week. that’s the best barometer of reality, imho.

  5. omgahipster says:

Thank god that AA didn’t get that storefront and rob the mission of the chance to buy $275 jeans.

Or maybe I’m just bitter because I can’t afford them, right?

  6. dingo says:

price does seem excessive for a community designed product…i have RRL, BN, Gucci, Levi BigE, Citi. of Hu, and Nudie all in Selvage and all cost less than that on sale
