Bangkok 16 the second restaurant on 16th to close in less than a month

Mr. Eric Sir has the scoop:

First Ti Couz, now Bangkok 16? This stretch of 16th is starting to look a bit sparse.

Personally, I’m devastated. Where will we all order General Tso’s meatless chicken now?! Read on.

I forgot to mention, but Il Cantuccio is still vacant. Come on people, open some new restaurants.

Not that it matters–at all–but General Tso’s is Chinese. Bangkok is in Thailand. Big Lantern (a block away) strikes me as more of a meatless Chinese food haven. Rejoice!

Big Lantern does, in fact, have meatless General Tso’s Chicken.

I live right nearby. Terry the owner wanted to retire after 25+ years in the restaurant business. I frequented the place often and from what I was told the license and the place were sold to another owner who plans on keeping it a Thai place. The old owners made sure that the new owner makes sense for the space so hopefully they will fit in nicely.

Also General Tso’s meatless was never on the menu and the version at Big Lantern is awesome.
