Take it away, Nicky:
Guys, bad news. Eighty-Five Song Happy Hour is mired in crippling debt and the banks are threatening to SHUT US DOWN. If we don’t sell at least 28 gin and tonics between 6 and 9 PM, there may not be a safe public space to listen to Matthew Sweet records on a Wednesday in the Bay Area anymore. Come out and show your support on June 1, and send a clear message to Washington about what really matters.
That’s a pic I took of Wam Bam Ashleyanne the night she deejayed our first ever American Tripps Halloween party, at the Secret Alley way back in 2011. It was one of the best parties ever!
Tonight she returns (for the first time in a while) to American Tripps (the “Berlin-style” ping pong night), which is now every Monday night at Pop’s, and it sounds like it’s gonna be a fun one:
I’m bringing only jammers tonight, spanning 60′s Soul & R&B hipshakers, French Psych stompers, and even some good time favorites like The Mummies, The Okmoniks, Tullycraft, and more! It’s a trash bag full of goodness!
We were pleasantly surprised to see Pops Bar a couple of times in SFWEEKLY’s BEST OF SF 2016 Readers Poll. Thank you to all who voted our Bacon Bloody Mary as the best Bloody Mary in San Francisco! Pops Bar Trivia Tuesday was also voted Best Trivia Night. Definitely worth a shout out, local favorite BFF.fm radio won best radio station. You can catch BFF.fm DJs at Pops Bar every Thursday night. Thank you San Francisco for voting for us, we think YOU ARE THE BEST!

What’s better then karaoke in the mission? Why EMO KARAOKE of course! Start warming up your vocal chords and get ready to singalong to your favorite emo, pop-punk, and screamo songs this Saturday! Check out a list of some of the songs we have for you to sing.

He was doing one of his short-notice late-night sets, this time at the Chapel. The Chronicle was on the scene:
Chappelle ended up dedicating much of the four-hour show to Prince, sharing stories of how his sister introduced him to the funky music, how he was finally introduced to Prince in real life and how much he respected Prince’s fight to protect the rights of musicians and artists.
Backed by a band, Chappelle’s set was as much as a musical tribute as it was a laugh fest. He often encouraged the band to keep jamming since he believed they could “say more with music than I could ever say … all I have are pussy jokes left anyway.”
Martin Luther McCoy, a San Francisco singer who wore a black shirt that read “Purple Reign,” provided vocals for the night. He and the band performed a medley of Prince hits including sing-alongs like “Kiss” and “Nothing Compares 2 U,” during which Chappelle often had his head bowed. At one point, just after 3 a.m., Chappelle unsheathed a shiny tambourine that bore the “Artist Formerly Known as Prince” symbol.
First, the Victoria Theater on 16th Street. (You’ve never been inside, and now’s your chance!) The SF International Film Festival is on for the next couple weeks, and this Saturday there are two great looking events:
Next, over to Rickshaw Stop in Hayes Valley sort of. Great stuff all weekend:

And sure they’ll be at Outside Lands in August, but that shit costs like $7,000 too.
