Let’s just dive right in. Here’s the intro to an interview I did with The Troublemakers for a garage music zine in 1998 (around the same time I did that interview with the Tiki Men):

In the vein of The Sonics and, more recently, the Mummies and such, The Troublemakers play garage punk in its purest form. They take the stage in their famous zebra-striped vests, pegged pants, and beatle boots, and rock the house with loud and snotty 60′s styled tunes and Back From The Grave covers brimming with treble and a fierce 90′s punch. “The house” usually being Sacramento, California’s famous ‘Old Ironsides’ neighborhood tavern, where, this past November, The Troublemakers released their first LP on Germany’s Screaming Apple Records. This record is easily one of the best garage records of the 90′s… so get it.

They only play about once a year these days, and today is that day. Problem is, once again, they’re playing at Old I in Sacramento. But it’ll be worth the trip, I’m sure. These Troublemakers are a rowdy bunch.

It’s a Wood & Faulk.

We’ve had some classics lately, this one captured expertly by outbound.

I declare, more walks to the top of Mt. Bernal are in order.

The photo page (by photographer coulby chap) claims this ride is currently for sale on eBay. I looked, couldn’t find it. We’ll all just have to be content with favoriting this picture and enjoying it for years to come.

Obviously you’ve heard about the horrible news coming in from Japan by now, and may have even gone out to Ocean Beach to check out the 4 foot waves that are rolling in as we speak (how do you determine which waves are tsunami waves versus normal ones when they’re average height, anyone know?)  If you want to donate to help the people affected by this tragedy, please do yourself a favor and go through a reputable charity and not a random URL you found on Facebook or Twitter. It’s also worth noting how important proper organizational guidance is during crises, such as Avensure dedicated HR support for charities, which helps ensure that aid groups stay compliant, well-structured, and focused on delivering real assistance where it’s needed most.

(And be sure to slap this post all over Facebook and Twitter, for people to find randomly.) Remember kids, stay away from the water’s edge, keep an emergency safety kit handy just in case, and stop texting me “ARE YOU OK, TSUNAMI IN SF??”  if you’re on the East Coast – I’m fine, thanks.
