Sam Rockwell Shines in 'Moon'

Last night I went to the SFIFF premiere of Duncan Jones’ Moon starring Sam Rockwell. I went in pretty cold, not knowing anything other than it’s in space Sam Rockwell is in it. It’s good that way, so I won’t say much more, and I’ll say watch the above trailer only if you really like watching trailers.

Really, all I’ll add is that Sam Rockwell gives a MONSTER performance.

Also, new candidate for best ping pong scene in all of cinema.

Totally Pigged Out

Jesse of Beer & Nosh was a very lucky boy yesterday. He got to attend Ryan Farr’s “Pig Out” pork extravaganza — and luckily for us he took a ton of pictures. The gorgeous shot above is just the tip of the iceberg. Link.

Urban Safari Ventures Into Gang Injunction Zone (Video)

Kris M the videographer asks, “What the fuck is this?” Indeed, one’s first instinct is to wonder what this Urban Safari expedition could possibly be doing this far from Pier 39.

But a quick perusal of the firm’s website reveals they do do “Ethnic-Themed Tours.” Perhaps that’s what the fuck this is, Kris M. And they do “Treks to Famous Movie Sites”; maybe they caught the La Mission premiere too.

Or? Any other ideas?

(Thanks, Vinnie!)

Biographical Info:

"I joked that living in the Mission would be the end of me. And there were nights where it felt like the case.

One night I went out with my friend Allan to the bar that no one goes to on 16th Street, where I lost half my drink and money on the dance floor. Later we skated down 16th to Evelyn Lee, where I fell off my board and landed on my head as the 22 bus sped past behind me. A sobering moment. At the bar, I sulked and nursed my wounds until Allan put on Amy Winehouse’s 'Valerie.' We danced, he dipped me, and I felt better."
