SF Secrets Tackles SF Animal Care and Control

I’m really digging the new SF Secrets video blog.  The host has one of those great personalities that screams “I do a lot of drugs” or “I’m a little too good with children” and, in a pro-level Borat manner, he always wears the same outfit.  But seriously, up until today, I did not know I could volunteer to play with belligerent, stray alligators and rattlesnakes at 15th and Harrison.  Secret ruined.

Animal Care and Control is San Francisco’s most hardcore pound. They often receive lizards, rattlesnakes, flying squirrels, and not long ago they brought in an alligator found in Lake Merced. Today I received a tour from Rebecca Katz, who is not only the director of the ACC, but she can charm snakes and is rumored to have dated Crocodile Dundee in her early teens.

God Damned By GIRLS

San Francisco band Girls was on the front page of Pitchfork again this morning (sorry dudes, I read Pitchfork), which led me to spend the last hour at work watching Girls music videos.  Oops!

Unsurprisingly, most of them feature SF scenery.  Here’s one I came across today that I hadn’t seen before – starring Dolores Park:

Not my favorite song (“Lust for Life” is!), but still not bad.

These dudes are getting crazy famous, so see them at the Swedish American Hall on November 20th or Bottom of the Hill on November 21st before they start playing bigger venues.  Awesome.

Brittney at Eye on Blogs just hipped us to this highlight reel from what would appear to be a BBC profile of the Mission District. I was determined not to like it, but then one or two of the items were spot on. Kudos, BBC. Link.

Schlomo today posted a quick video depicting the Banh Mi Cart staff hard at work perfecting their sandwich recipes. Their secret? They went to Saigon Sandwich and got some of the real thing to study. Link.

When I Think of My Coffee Brain

This is the best thing on the internet today (besides news of Kevin Montgomery’s firing). What do you imagine when you think of your coffee brain?
