Check out the big LED art piece at 16th and Julian, behind the Mission National Bank.  Don’t know what it is about, but I live near there and watched them put it in this week.

Partisan Gallery tonight hosts a celebration of the photocopied image. Twenty artists from SF and NY contributed homemade books made up of nothing but Xeroxes. The books will be on view at tonight’s opening, and for sale in limited-edition box sets.

As a teenager, making concert flyers and comic books and poor man’s poster art, I spent hours hovering over a copier. Now I work in a largely paperless office and rarely look at or read anything that’s not on the internet. I really hope this exhibition doesn’t trigger an intense longing for the sounds and smells of Kinko’s.

Mission Mission apologizes for having gone so car crazy lately, but LOOK AT THIS THING!

In my mind’s eye, I see Joey Ramone, the Pope, Mickey Rourke and Lil Mama tooling around the neighborhood in this beast, blasting Cramps songs, shouting at cool kids, and side swiping vehicles parked in the bike lane.

Okay, so this flyer makes this thing look ludicrous. But I was listening to Delly Ranx just now on his MySpace page, and shit is dope, particularly the track “Working Class.”

And really, if you can get past the graphic design and just read the information, what’s not to like? It’s free. You get to be in a video for a SMASH hit. Clothing giveaway. Something called “Red Bull & Guiness.”

There’s lots to be excited about. Our new friend Moka delivers a comprehensive report, beginning with the following handy table:

I have been waiting for weeks for this market to re-open. While itʼs not completely stocked, what theyʼre offering at the moment is pretty damn spectacular.

You can see the fruit and veg aisle from outside and it wonʼt disappoint you. The prices are reassuringly reasonable and thereʼs a huge mix of choices. I got a little weepy in front of the coconuts, of which, you can get three different kinds. Lots of lemons and limes (which never seem to be easily located when someone brings over a bottle of vodka) and bins of loose corn kernels and beans.

Mei from Family Style just got in touch to share with us the above gem.

I mean, okay… art cars? Who gives a shit about art cars? KIDS, that’s who! Because its not an “art car”; it’s just a van with cameras and junk all over it! RAD! Link.

Anyway, the Camera Van was parked out front of the Roxie in conjunction with SF Indiefest‘s screening of Automorphosis, a film about art cars.

This is probably one of the better pieces of art we’ve seen on the Valencia Street Art Wall in a long time: larger than life, whimsical, kind of unsettling.

Johnny0 at Burrito Justice did some legwork and determined that it’s the work of one Jesse Hazelip, a presumably local artist specializing in animal-weaponry mashups. Link.
