All I have to say is that I wouldn’t want to smoke any DMT prior to looking at that thing.

The SF Examiner reports that a 17-year-old guy was brazenly shot in front of Bob’s Liquor and Grocery at 26th and Harrison yesterday afternoon:
Sgt. Lyn Tomioka said the teenager was standing in the doorway of the business when a two-door car pulled up. A passenger exited and shot at the victim, she said.
The victim ran into the store and the shooter got back into the car, driven by a female, and fled.

Laura from Vegansaurus! walks up and down Capp St. so I don’t have to:
Also, don’t read the comments for this post unless you want to read a bunch of whining about how this entry involves Capp St.

A small group of people, who were wearing funny uniforms and alleging to represent the City of San Francisco and its parks, were out Sunday evening claiming to be enforcing laws established by “the people of San Francisco.” Their actions included, but were not limited to, disturbing a small dance party due to noise (while a Mustang with no muffler drove by), demanding an owner of a moped leave the park (only after calling some sort of oracle and inquiring if it was illegal to park a motorized vehicle on the grass), and impolitely asking someone to water the grass with a Stella Artois. Most park-goers failed to recognize the legitimacy of these individuals and continued to drink “the devil’s nectar.”

This bicycle-basket dance party was shut down by individuals claiming to represent the City of San Francisco.
Previous on Mission Mission:
The Bicycle Film Festival is kicking off tomorrow. Unfortunately, you’ll have to leave the hood to check out the weekday activities (Alamo Square and SOMA? What gives?). But fear not: Friday and Saturday nights bring bicycle cinema to the Victoria Theatre on 16th and Capp. There is even a street party Saturday afternoon until 6pm featuring a BMX Competition, a track bike competition (mustaches required), and “fun times.”

Nolehace spotted this awesome stencil mural of skeletons on wheels. Yet again, another photographer does not want you to see a larger version of the photo. Covered. In. Lamesauce.

Mission Mission reader “Stucco Sux” brings us news of Tower Theater’s new asking price:
FYI, Tower Theater on Mission near 20th is up for sale. Asking price: $1,988,000.
Still largely intact inside according to the listing. What a fun tour that would be to take with the realtor. I wish someone would check it out and take lots of pictures…
Johnny of Burrito Justice follows up and proves he is more of a journalist than I am:
Hey, I’ve been waiting for it to break the $2 million mark!
Oct 2006 – $2.6m
Feb 2007 – $2.5m
Nov 2007 – $2.4mClosed as a theater in 1996 — the last one on Mission to close. Used as a church until 2005. Apparently there were murals inside that were painted over. Some photos of the old interior, and random trivia here.
Collage of the exterior in 1942, 1964 and today here, along with some of the other theaters on Mission.
Consumers Auto Body on 900 block Valencia St. has upgraded the artwork on their garage door. In other news, I need to buy a real camera.
