Oh, that‘s what that was. Thanks, Burrito Justice post about the Beer & Nosh beer dinner!
Update: Beah says, “Also, it’s the site of Harriet’s apartment from So I Married an Axe Murderer.”

If you’re like me, Hedwig is your favorite movie musical of all time and thus John Cameron Mitchell is a hero of yours and thus you’re ecstatic that he’s decided to spend Valentine’s weekend at the Victoria Theatre in the Mission performing a one-of-a-kind stage show called Origin of Love that includes readings on romance, screenings of his films with live commentary, and SINGING OF SONGS FROM HEDWIG.
Showtimes and details are as follows:
Fri., Feb 13, 8 pm (SHORTBUS) Hosted by Connie Champagne
Sat., Feb 14, 7:30 pm (HEDWIG) Hosted by Peaches Christ
Sat., Feb 14, 11 pm (SHORTBUS w/ live director’s commentary ) Hosted by Anita Cocktail
Sun., Feb 15, 8 pm (HEDWIG w/ live director’s commentary) Hosted by Connie Champagne
Link. Bonus: Jonathan Richman’s version of “Origin of Love” is pretty good too. Hear it here.

Some couple was in love, so they moved in together, and then one of them fell for someone else, so the broken-hearted one went out and bought an axe, and chopped up all the other one’s stuff:
Two weeks after she left, she came back for the furniture. It was neatly arranged into small heaps and fragments of wood. She took that trash and left my apartment for good.
See the axe and other relics of busted up relationships at the Museum of Broken Relationships, a traveling exhibition opening tomorrow at Root Division. Frankly, heaps of thrashed furnishings would probably make a more compelling museum exhibit, but hopefully the axe is okay. Link.
Thrillist describes the party thusly: “free food and drinks, like Trumer Pils and a cocktail called “The Love-bite”, powered by an all-breakup-song playlist.” Link.

Now it’s a single-family home with a six-car garage and a knave and everything. Who will move in?

Zoe from the Chronicle just hipped us to Phil Bronstein’s latest column, and the accompanying video:
Phil just posted original video interviewing the famous Chronicle Night Cabbie as well as a sampling of other cabbies around town, discussing the mayor’s proposed “medallions for sale” plan. One of the cabbies he talked to said one of the best places in town to grab a fare was the Mission.
Link. The question is, why is the Mission such a great place to grab a fare? Is it because there’s always someone waiting because there’re never enough cabs?

Mission Pie says:
Vegan alert! New pie- Apple & brandy raisins. Yummy!
Link. I’ll be having whipped cream on mine, FYI.
Watch this video flyer if you’ve any doubts.
The Passionistas go on at about 10:30pm, at The Knockout.
Okay, so this rock-solid trailer is probably 10 times better than the movie itself, but Lolita‘s got its moments: foot fetish main title sequence, creepy Peter Sellers, iconic sunglasses.
This particular screening — Wednesday night at 8pm — has a few other things going for it as well: 1.) It’s at Coffee Bar, 2.) it’s free, 3.) there are drink specials, and .4) “avant garde” desserts by Jasmine Rae Bakery.
Stay tuned to the Coffee Bar website for future film night info.
