3D City: A quick trip to Piedmont Ave

In my rush to get as many new comics made for SF Zine Fest I took a quick trip out to the awesome Piedmont Copy. I spent most of my day cutting and folding new books, but snapped a few shots along the way on my Lumix 3D1. The zines turned out great too btw.

3D City: Pier Symmetry

On foggier days, I love bringing my laptop down to the Embarcadero and working from one of the piers. Headphones on, watching the ships roll in while I’m working on soundtracks. I shot this roll a few weeks back on my Nimslo 3D camera with some Kodak Gold film.

3D City: Rice Paper Scissors

It’s possible I eat at Rice Paper Scissors a little too often. At least that’s the thought that occurred to me when I realized I had so many unpublished wigglegrams from their new location (in Brick and Mortar Music Hall). I’m a sucker for their Goi Ga chicken salad sandwich… and their grilled steak banh mi.

3D City: Wagging Tails

The dogs of the Mission, as seen through my Lumix 3D1. (With a bonus shot of a dog and a drone in Columbus Park, that looks weird because developing film can be tricky sometimes)

3D City: Missing the Rain

3D City is a year long stereoscopic photography project by Doctor Popular

Did any of you guys get stuck in the rain storm yesterday. Well, not so much a “storm” as a light “drizzle”… Even “drizzle” could be pushing it. I finally got around to developing the rolls from the last good storm we had (back in April?) and wanted to share them with you guys.

3D City: Crashing Faster

Crashfaster, a local chiptune rock band, have just released a brilliant new EP called “Superchroma“. A couple months back they invited me to hang out and document the process as they recorded at Different Fur Studios in the Mission. I wanted to pick a format that worked with their lo-fi electro sound, so I created this experimental series of glitched out 3D images of the band in action.

All shots taken on my little Lumix 3D1 then glitched in text editors. BTW, I’m teaching a series of artist’s workshops in The Secret Alley throughout August, including workshops on creating 3D Wigglegrams and glitching images in text editors. Basically, how to create images just like these.

Walking is for suckers. These folks know how to get around the neighborhood in style! Which reminds me, someday I’m-a get an exclusive 3D City photo shot with Segway-Poodle-Guy (Rocco and John, I believe). All shots taken in the Mission on my little Lumix 3D1.

3D City: The Cardboardians

I spent the weekend hanging out with a bunch of talented film makers and artists making a music video for my song “Rumspringa“. On Saturday afternoon we were joined by some folks who call themselves The Cardboardians to shoot some scenes around the Mission. Here are some behind the scenes wigglegrams of The Cardboardians in action. You can see the debut of our 48hr music video and several others at the Music Video Race Premiere Party this Sunday night in SF, with live music by my pals Rin Tin Tiger.

3D City: The Fireworks of the Mission

3D City is a year long stereoscopic photography project by Doctor Popular

The fog may have blocked our view of the city’s big fireworks show, but from our friend’s roof in the Mission we had a great view of the neighborhood’s many illegal fireworks. In fact we seemed sandwiched right between two of the more popular fireworks spots, with the largest being on the corner of 19th and Bryant. A little later in the night our friend Eddie launched his quad-copter drone and came back with this great footage of the Mission’s unofficial fireworks show.

3D City: Dolores Tower

Along with the typical Wachoski and hunky Jesus spottings, you’re likely to spot these acrobats doing their thing in Dolores Park once or twice a week. I’m not exactly sure which group this was, but I’m thinking it could be AcroYoga. If you know, share some info in the comments. Shot with my Nimlso 3D camera on Kodak T-Max film.
