McCafe Pushers on Segways: A Symbol of Economic Progress

mccafe_image

McCafe Pimps seen coming from Capp St. at 17th

Yesterday afternoon, these five crappy-coffee pushers could be seen rolling down the length of Capp St. in their tricked-out Segways (peep those oversized off-roading tires; that’s how you know their seriousness knows no bounds).  At first, I figured they were completely unaware of where the centers of economic activity occur around these parts.  Then I realized the Capp St. corridor is the harbinger of Mission District economic progress.  Capp has 1.3 million dollar dream homes (one even has a carriage house for your collection of prize-winning mares complete with a special walk-thru featured in the Chronicle), an opening cupcake store, jaywalking has replaced prostitution has the street’s greatest crime, and crack prices are through the roof.  A rising tide lifts all boats.

I get it now, McDonalds.  I get it.

Hell Freezes Over: A Banner Ad Actually Tells Me Something Useful

the_pork_store_banner_ad

I was just taking a peak at SFoodie for shits n’ giggles when I saw this: a fucking banner advertisement telling me that the 16th St. Pork Store is open until 3a.m. I don’t know what is more impressive: that we have another late-night dining option in the Mission now* or that I actually looked at a banner ad.

Pork Store PROTIP: Don’t get the tofu scramble.  That shit is so foul that you won’t need 13 shots of tequila in your stomach to puke all over their bathroom floor.  That said, their biscuits and veggie gravy is the jam.

* well, since August, according to this Yelp review.

Reminder: Dolores Park Community Meeting Tonight

Tonight at 7pm, neighborhood residents all lovers of Dolores Park will gather at the Dolores Park Church (455 Dolores) to “form goals and strategize.”  Some neighborhood policy setters will be there, so if you care about the city making community events more rare, your right to picnic, grilling pork, trash, noise, dogs off-leash, dogs on-leash, pedophile hipsters smoking cigarettes near the swings, or whatever your issue is, show up.

Bike Lane Flaccidity

If you’ve had a bad day at work and had to put up with the irritation that is traffic, coming across some juvenile cock graffiti can be the most magically uplifting thing in the world.

Ritmo Latino Moves On

el_ritmo_moves_on

Reader Erich sends this in from 16th and Mission, signaling the very end of the neighborhood’s latino music megastore as it transitions into a T-Mobile megastore.  While I never went into the store, I’ll miss gawking at the Ricky Martin handprints cemented to their entryway.

More on Ritmo Latino’s closing at Mission Loc@l.
