24 Hour Comic Book Day

24hrfinal_sm

If I made comics, I would totally crash this party:

24 Hour Comics Day is an event where cartoonists all over the world attempt to create their own 24 page comics in 24 consecutive hours.

If you are interested in taking part in this years event, please email Doctor Popular at at yoyogenius at gmail dot com with your name and phone number. Space is limited to 20 seats (per shop), so serious inquiries only, please. Additionally, we are asking for a $5 fee to reserve a space, this money goes to the shops to help cover costs.

RIDE TOO! A Night of Bikes, Beer, and Bands at CELLspace

ride-too-20090920-074313

Happening this Friday:

CELLspace needs a bit of velo-loving, so all are invited to stop by for a night of bikes, beer, and bands. Since 1996, the CELL has supported the arts as well as alternative transportation. For RIDE TOO!, we would like to also welcome back our old neighbors, the Bike Kitchen to their new shop back on Florida Street. Proceeds from this event will go to cover rent for CELLspace as well as help fund the new Mural Project on 633 Florida St. (which will include a Bike Kitchen mural).

All the details.

Free Web-Enabled Cells Phones in Dolores Park THIS SUNDAY

Broke-Ass Stuart, this one is for you.  Some scavenger hunting party collective is doing a reality TVesque hunt this weekend in Dolores Park.  What makes this notable is that they give all participants web-enabled cell phones.  Yeah, you’re probably expected to return them at the end of the hunt, but who is stopping you from never finishing?  Free fucking phones, people.

On a more important note, the theme of their scavenge hunt is “Mission Hipsters vs. Marina Preppies.”  This is not the first time this week we have seen this theme being used.  Honestly, this theme is so played that you’ll get the clap just from looking at it.  Team Mission Mission had a little staff meeting and determined that, going forward, the acceptable “Haha.  Oh, San Francisco” party theme is “People who view the city as a mass of Hipsters and Preppies vs. people who actually live here.”

Mini Cupcake Clash

Mission Police to Hold Community Meeting Tonight

Following Friday’s shootings:

The captain of San Francisco’s Mission District police station will hold a meeting with residents tonight to discuss police efforts to stem gang-related violence, which left three men dead over the weekend.

Police are still trying to figure out what triggered the initial hostilities, but the conflict is believed to be between separate factions of Nortenos, police spokeswoman Sgt. Lyn Tomioka said.

Word.  The meeting will be held tonight at Mission Educational Projects, Inc. at 6 p.m., and will be hosted by Mission Station police Captain Stephen Tacchini.

Address is 3049 24th St. at Treat, if you’d like to attend.

Mission Mission Fundraiser Alleycat

missionmission.alleycat.3

Peep this!: no one who writes Mission Mission* owns a real camera.  Clearly we love lo-fi photography, but occasionally it would be nice to have a dSLR to take pictures with.  Since we already have our two strikes, we cannot risk getting caught breaking down the door to Ritz with baseball bats, so looks like we’re going to try and buy one all legit.  This, and other future upgrades (hint!), cannot always be done for free.  Time to raise money and have fun at the same time.

Sunday October 4th.  All the awesome details are here.

We have a facebook event too.  Yes, facebook events are lame as shit, but it would be nice to know how much food to bring.  Oh, the horror.

* except Ariel.  Damn edge cases
