On Monday afternoon, owner Lila Thirkield, former staff, politicians and about a hundred fans of the bar turned out for the plaque’s unveiling and to celebrate the Lexington’s 18 years at 3463 19th St. Now home to the upscale Wildhawk, the iconic Mission lesbian bar closed in April 2015 following its sale to the Plumpjack Group.

Lets take a journey back in time to a warm May night last year, in a small bar in the outer mission… a night where the start of a new party was born: Spin the Night at Pops Bar! Spin the night is a fun boozy filled evening showcasing the local heroes working hard to keep the music scene alive and well in San Francisco. No particular genre, just music that inspires us to party on.  This Wednesday we are bringing back the very first original crew.  Liaison Artists is taking over the decks for ONE NIGHT ONLY!

Here’s something new! It’s Stinky’s al Fresco, a weekend-long block party just outside the Mission, starring some of the best rock ‘n’ roll bands ever! I mean, THE GORIES. (Your beloved Ty Segall masqueraded as them for Halloween in the Mission a few years back.)

When Kevin isn’t out and about playing bass for the band UNCLE RIFKIN and guitar for LADY CROONER, you can catch him behind the bar at Pops on Thursday and Sunday mornings.  He mixes a mean cocktail but his drink of choice is a cold brew on tap.  You can also catch Kevin at Madrone Art Bar from time to time hosting Spike’s Open Mic Sunday. Stop in and have a beer with Kevin!

Starts Monday! Here’s the info:

A new, shorter, 4-week season of the SF Berlin-Style Ping Pong League kicks off this Monday at Pops Bar on 24th Street in the Mission! Less commitment, less competition, faster pace! Plenty of prizes, plenty of beers and shots!

Make new friends, reconnect with old friends! DJs Beauregard & Nutzeffekt (and friends) spinnin’ hot jams all night each and every Monday. Pop’s is a short walk from BART, no walk from Muni, and after dark there’s always security out front to keep an eye on your bikes. And for dinner, it’s the Mission: taco shops on every corner!!
