Mission Flashback: Ribity Meets Bender's

Ribity Meets Bender's

Shortly after John Kerry botched his campaign for emperor, Ribity was introduced to the window of our favorite bar.

Fucking.  Historic.

The Mission and the Marina Can Now Be One

the_gap_equals_aa

Did anyone else notice all the new American Apparelesque Gap advertisements all over the Mission?  Of course, they forgot to get models that look like they would try to score some smack at 16th and Mission after the shoot, but we’ll let that slide.

Take a hint everyone: it’s time to abandon your custom jeans for a pair made by kids in Asia from a company on the ass-end of a fad.

Woman's Bra Busts, 11 Injured

If anyone lost a bra Saturday at Capp and 20th, someone was nice enough to hang it from a stop sign and turn it into a windsock.

Street Food Purveyor Persecuted at Street Food Festival

Your Lunch writes:

This Saturday afternoon I was surrounded by four police, threatened with a misdemeanor and forced to leave the area for selling street food at the San Francisco STREET FOOD Festival. They forced me to show ID and confiscated a menu I had printed, presumably because it had my twitter account listed on it. One officer said that she would “remember my face” and that if she sees me selling food again she will make sure that I’m fined. I was sitting on a stoop selling organic, vegetarian Indian food that my sister and I made from scratch. Definitely a menace to society.

I liked that the festival got people venturing east of Mission Street for once. For blocks and blocks in every direction, sidewalks were inundated with pedestrians pedestriating their way to and from the fest. Surreal. The whole city descended on the Gang Injunction Zone to wait hour-long waits for huaraches.

Mission Burger!

I’m at a loss for words. Mission Street Food. Duc Loi Market. Every day but Thursday. Noon. MISSION BURGER. Vegan version sounds great too. Starts Sunday.

Spooky Window

I’m starting to get spooked by everything.

I’ll just assume that behind this window is a meeting of the Bishops of the Flying Triad. Or maybe the Ancient Order of the Triangle Birds?

No wait! The Bilderbird Group!

Update: Fine. It’s not a cult. It’s a shop. That looks like it does cool stuff. But the jury’s still deliberating on that Gratitude place.

Last Night on Capp and 19th

Plug1 of WHAT IM SEEING dot COM spotted this bust on Capp St. last night and took some great shots:

Last night, my wife and I had just eaten dinner at Cha Cha Cha and decided to meet her friends at Little Baobab.  There was a $5 cover charge, so I needed to hit an ATM.  I stopped into the corner store for some cash and a pack of cigs.  As I walked out 4 SFPDs swarmed the corner, where 2 fellows and and a young lady were standing around.  The police quickly cuffed all three.  I have no idea what they were being detained for.  When the guy in
[second to last photo] saw me photographing, he asked if I was going to put it on the internet.  I answered back “yeah” and one of the cops smiled at me.

In an unrelated Capp St. incident, Corinna spotted two people fleeing what appeared to be a fight at Doc’s Clock:

Walking back from  an awesome party, between Capp and Mission, two dudes were walking super fast down the street. One of them was changing his shirt, then the next one passed us, shirtless, covered in blood. As soon as we got to Mission we saw a bunch of cop cars driving around looking presumably for those dudes so we pointed them down 22nd. There was a huge crowd of people toward Doc’s Clock – I imagine something happened around there. But I have no idea what.

Capp was clearly the center of the action Friday night.
