Even More Mission Pizza . . . This Time on 24th St.

A new culinary endeavor seems to be emerging just down the street between Valencia and Mission, right near the panaderia and that friendly cafe with the bagel special and the tasty OJ.  It offers free delivery, but of what?  Thai food?  Medical supplies?  Further investigation is definitely in order.  Mustering the myriad skills picked up from an upbringing by Columbo, I bravely venture forth and discover:

Farina's New Venture to Include Mini Italian Grocery Store?

So says their neighbor-to-be Kiya Babzani of Self Edge:

Farina’s pizzeria will actually be two spaces, one containing a pizzeria and the other containing an Italian foods mini grocery store.

Nice. Now, next time you’re in dire need of a torpedo sub or a tub of pesto and the line at Lucca is too long, bop down the way to Farina.

Tapatio Packets!

Fudgekat asks, “Have you ever seen Tapatio packets?”

I have not, but I would like to see some. Soon. Spilling their guts onto a food item I’m about to consume. Where can I make this happen? (Besides some place in Los Angeles, which is where Fudgekat spotted hers.)

Fake Polaroids Still Going Strong

Janebook is a good place to see great lo-fi square-shaped pictures of the neighborhood, like the above and like the below.

There You Go Again
I found some more street art on Valencia. And just like last time, I helped it out a bit. It’s sort of addicting.
Street Art Revealed
I dunno. What else is it supposed to be?

Speaking of which, Seattle-based illustrator, designer and awesome dad, Gaelan Kelly did a couple versions of the last one:

Sketchy Mission

Pete Scully is a master street artist. That is, he’s an artist that draws streets. Sometimes Mission ones!

On his site, he calls himself an “urban sketcher” which is the same thing I call a lot of the dudes I see hanging around in alleys off of S. Van Ness at 2am. Not only are his sketches amazing, but the guy is a wizard with water colors (or “colours” as he would probably write). He also name-dropped Gozer The Gozerian which is awesome.

Feel free to use that as an artist bio, Pete.

“Hi, I’m an admin for a group called Chinese Restaurants Being Invaded By Monstrous Snakes, and we’d love to have this added to the group!”
