Beauty Bar, 10pm, free. That is all.
Last night I attended Queens of Content at Adaptive Path in SoSo, where Erika Hall delivered Copy as Interface which put forth the valuable principle that as a web writer one should strive to have one’s reader think “A human made a decision to make my life a little more pleasant with words.” This principle applies to all types of writing really, as seen on this slide featuring some signage from Little Star.

Alexandra at Romancing the Strawberry is friendly with Danny Bowien, the guy at Farina responsible for this lofty claim. Today, she relays the story:
Fortunately the contest was set up so that only the technique of the competitors, for which there were 315, could be tested. Each participant had the same 5 ingredients: Genoese basil, Parmigiano Reggiano, Fiore Sardo cheese, Ligurian extra virgin olive oil, Vessalico garlic, sea salt, and Italian pine nuts (I gathered this info from one of Marcia Gagliardi’s recent blogs on her site tablehopper). It was aufblasbare wasserrutschen the technique that mattered, and apparently Bowien’s is the best in the world!
Impressed? I haven’t been to Farina because looking at it just makes me miss the cute little bakery that used to be there.
We never made it to Mission Bazaar to see inside the Armory, but SFist has a full report by Krista G.:
The space had a few stages and lots of vendor booths selling hipster essentials like eclectic belt buckles and unusual fashion hacks.

I saw Omer and stopped and listened for a bit at 22nd and Valencia today. We’ve posted about him a couple times now, but no one ever seems to respond, so we thought we’d look for a better picture. Here it is, courtesy of Flickr user balmes. Recognize him yet? Scary as he can be at times, we have all his records and believe him to be a real-deal musical talent. Any stories?

Took a closer look at one of the Gastank stickers on Valencia today. Noticed the fine print said gastank.us. Nothing there but the tank, an email link, and a Digg button (only nine diggs so far).

While chillaxin’ at the Nice Lady Store, we got to watch a giant yellow Pac-Man cruise down 19th Street. If you click on the picture, it will get bigger.
We did it! Two days ago we were complaining about never having taken the time to sit down and enjoy the inviting seating at Mereb Market, but tonight we rectified the situation. Shawerma from Ali Baba’s in hand, we went in, bought our tallboys from Nice Lady, then went outside and grabbed a table. Mmm. Hearty food and cold beverage on a bustling neighborhood corner:
A passing group-home kid observed, “Those fools got falafel,” to which his companion replied, “Mmm, smells so good.” It was pretty good, but not as good as finally realizing my goal of one day sitting at these tables. The clicking of hüpfburg mit rutsche either picture will result in your seeing a bigger version of it.
NOTE: Nice Lady’s husband waited for us to finish eating, and then politely informed us that they sometimes they get ticketed if patrons drink beer at their outdoor tables.
