Rumormonger: Harassed Skater Bois Spotted With a Real Photographer

From Mission Mistaken:

On my way home today, I swear to god I saw our skater boys from the ‘SFPD arrest of skater punks’ video from a few days back.

North of the Market St. Safeway, a few blocks off of Duboce Park.

If I’m not mistaken, they were about to be photographed by what appeared to be a REAL photographer.

If anyone has the inside scoop, I’m sure my fellow (long suffering) MM readers would love to get the skinny.

I’m too lazy to do any real research on this*, but I’d put my bets on the Chronicle doing a followup story in which they don’t credit us with breaking the story.  Either that or TLC was shooting the promotional photos for the upcoming reality show, A Day In The Life of Some Skaters Kinda Made Famous By a Minor Local News Controversy.

Police Chase Through the Mission Ends in Crash, Epic Lawls

police_chase_ends_in_crash

Last night, we receive two tips that there was a police chase through the Mission that ended with a crash at 23rd and Potrero and somewhere between 16 and 25 cruisers hanging out at the aftermath.

Kati Jackson, my favorite frequent email tipster, managed to take the crash to the net-level:

It’s 11pm in the mission. Do you know where you parked your car?

Well, follow the trail of fluids across the street and look on top of the road sign.
There it is! And just in case you need a hand, SFPD’s finest is here to help.

What’s that you said the other day about a police reality show? Oh wait, that’s just the neighborhood. Hey mom, still thinking about visiting?

Kati later sent us a followup email: “That black thing?  Yeah, that’s the turn signal for the intersection.”

Anna later emailed us with some on-the-ground reporting:

Hey y’all, a car swerved across the Potrero and 23rd intersection where I live a few minutes ago, took out a small stoplight and a street sign, and crashed into the apartment next door. About 16 cop cars showed up and arrested what looked like a young woman, and she was taken away on a stretcher.

Damn.

Thanks for all the tips!

MEDIA WATCH: Mission Loc@l Attempts To Americanize Mission Icon

Screen shot 2009-10-06 at 11.07.11 AMDid anyone else spot this in Mission Loc@l?  ”Mr. Pickles in a cowboy hat.”  Cowboy hat? This is the most disgusting attempt at assimilating a Mission icon into American culture to date.

Peep this, East Bay journalism students: if you are going to slam our neighborhood’s favorite pickle’s unfettered sense of style, do it right:

(On a side note, searching for “Mexican Cowboy Hat” in google images is not quite what I expected)

Give a Guy Kettle Chips, Get Robbed at Gunpoint

Looks like there is a slight uptick in gunpoint-robberies in the Mission.  Mission Loc@l reports there was a robbery at 2:23 last Thursday morning.  A tipster also tells us this tale from Thursday afternoon:

I got robbed by a dude with a gun at the laundromat at 20th and Guerrero, at around 6 pm.  We were both hanging out at the laundromat for like 45 minutes, me waiting for my stuff to dry and him I guess working up the nerve to rob me. About 15 minutes after I got there he came over and said he was hungry, so I gave him the bag of kettle chips I was eating. He didn’t look or sound very threatening. But what do I know, because about 30 minutes after that he pulled out a gun and told me to put my purse on the table and get on the floor. Like I said, there was no cash or anything valuable in my bag ( which I tried to tell him, but he just threatened to shoot me).

Description of the above robber? “tall, very skinny, sort of hungry/stressed out looking black guy, maybe late twenties?”

SFPD Officer Threatens to Break a Skateboarder's Arm, Allegedly Kicks Him Into Cruiser

break your arm like a twig

"Resist again, and I'm going to break your arm like a twig. And then you can treat me like the asshole you think I am."

I cannot embed the video because WordPress is awful blogging software, but you can watch the video of Officer Schwab 2099 being rather aggressive here.  In all fairness, the skateboarder created a situation where one did not appear to exist, but shouldn’t police officers rise above petty insults and not abuse their power?

Sunday Night Stick Up on 20th/Folsom

Whoa!  Linda writes in about being held up Sunday night:

Me and a coupla pals were on our way home from my bachelor party on Sunday night at about 1 or 1:30am. I of course was lit up like a Christmas tree so the details are a little fuzzy. Long story short – we got robbed at gunpoint at 20th just before Folsom.

My two pals entrusted with my care were pretty sober. At first I thought they were just messing with us so, but then one of the fellas made a tug at my purse and it finally dawned on me what he wanted. Since he hadn’t shown me a gun yet (and I was drunk) I just said, “Man, don’t do that. I’m getting married in a week. Don’t do that.” Mind you this was all slurred and I was standing there covered in BBQ sauce and feathers. I was also holding too much stuff and my bag was slung across my body and not very easy to get at. I was obviously wasting their time.

So they made a grab for my friend’s purse, pulled out a loaded gun, pointed it at me, waved it at the others and then made a run for their car.

It was two dudes, fairly young maybe 19 or 20. One of them was a light skinned Latino. Didn’t get a look at the other. Black late model four door sedan with no plates. Didn’t really look like thugs to me. It was strange.

Thanks for sending in your account, Linda.  Hope you are well and congrats on the wedding!
