Hella Down

Mission muralist and artist Rio Yañez posted up a whole mess of purikura.  Kinda love it.  Is purikura going to become the hot 2010 cool kid ‘social network’ meme?  If there is a God, then yes.  (link)

Local Man Out Walking His Bong

Zarah sent us this slice of life from 16th and Rondel:

Thought I would share my sighting of a man shamelessly walking down 16th Street with bong in hand. He was getting a lot of hoot and hollers from the locals on the block. Good to know that bongs attract cat calls too.

Heh.  Sounds like a job for @missioncatcalls.

How would you cat call a bong?  I would say “HEY MAMA COME OVER HERE AND LET ME HIT THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” and then make kissy kissy noises.

Blood on the Wall

I was strolling down an alleyway that’s familiar to many but new to me and thought this lo-fi mural was pretty special.

Not sure I get this part but then again, I don’t get a lot of things:

Walker Dukes

Walker Dukes is one of my new favorite serial contributors to the Mission District Flickr pool.  I could go on about why I like his stuff, but I’ll just let some of my favorites do the talking.

Dude on Guerrero Turns On, Tunes In, Drops Out

Commenter Andy left us this tidbit over the weekend:

Saw a strange site heading down Guerrero today about 3pm…

A man was on a rampage down the street, knocking over some parked mopeds and throwing himself on the hoods of cars. Didnt appear to be homeless or crazy, but more in the throws of a serious LSD or other drug related craziness. Anyway, thought ya’ll might have your ear to the ground (or ye olde police scanner).

Crazy.  Did anyone else come across this nutter?

"a fat man tucking in his junk"

luna_park_junk

From Ed, via email:

If you’ve ever been to Luna Park in the Mission, you might have noticed that they have a pan there that looks either like a woman with a belly or a fat man tucking in his junk. In any case, it is spectacular. I thought I’d share.

La Rondalla Keeping Up With the Headlines

larondalla

From Rachel:

this is that place la rondalla on the corner of 21st and Val that has been closed for ages (but apparently had great Margs!), but they always have funny signs up to let you know that their still alive, sorta. funny thing is the Veterans day sign actually says November 11th 2008 in the corner. oopz

Heh.  I like to see business try to stay relevant.  I especially like their nod to Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize.  He’ll likely smile when he walks by.

Sidenote:  Were their margaritas full of roofies?  The legend continues…

I Smell Drugs and Candy… Here… Mhmmm…

Heh!  Sorry ’bout that title.

Dana sends in these shots, probs leftovers from somebody’s Halloween bender:

Look at this crazy little pile of empty Rx bottles (including Oxycontin) and candy wrappers on 18th street between mission and capp

Oxycontin and Twix!  It’s robotrippin’ for adults.
