Oh what a night!

Our pal Keli (not pictured) sums it up:

So I walk into the Lex and ask the door person how the night is going.

“It’s midnight in San Francisco but warm enough I’m wearing short shorts. AND I can get married if I want to. What’s not to like?!”

Nothin’!

Here’s what it was like seeing Hot Chip at Slim’s last night

Local faves Social Studies opened up:

A wall of televisions displayed a big ad for the new Converse Store opening soon on Market Street, featuring this image of Andrew Schoultz finishing up his mural on the side of Pop’s:

And then Hot Chip took the stage (which had to be extended by a few feet to accomodate all their awesome gear) and killed:

It was unreal being so close to them, and in such an intimate setting. Thanks, Converse Represent!

Currywurst!

With LOTS of mayo. It was awesome. From Little Red Riding Truck at SoMa StrEat Food Park.

Reducing waste through partying

It’s called Score, and it’s happening this weekend at the new 1564 MRKT space. Here’s how it works:

Bring your old clothes, accessories, books or vinyl, pay an entrance fee, and take whatever you like… for free! Pretty simple.

Plus live screenprinting (WorkshopSF), photobooth (curated by 31RAX), awesome food (Tamale Los Mayas), killer music (DJs King MostFreddy Anzures) and of course, FREE BEER (Speakeasy Brewery). Leftover items will be donated to Goodwill, and proceeds from the event will benefit awesome local charities.

Advance tickets are only $5 and they’re going fast! Full details here.

Drink of the Week: Strawberry-balsamic margarita

Strawberry-balsamic margarita! Like the strawberry-balsamic ice cream at Bi-Rite! It’s like the reverse of the Jesus Juice sorbet at Humphry’s: instead of taking a delicious alcoholic drink and turning it into a delicious frozen dessert, they took a delicious frozen dessert and turned it into a delicious alcoholic drink!

It’s sweet and strong, with a zing, and very good-looking. Find it at Hog & Rocks.

Drink of the week is brought to you by Poachedjobs.com.

Singin’ and Pingin’ returns to Verdi Club this Saturday!

Here’s what’s up:

Well, Singin’ & Pingin’ used to be a once-in-a-while thing, but the last one at Verdi Club was so epicly fun, we decided to do it all over again, just two months later (and a month after the extravaganza at Z Space).

DJ Purple (http://djpurple.com/) will be rocking the dance floor, and we’ll have two ping pong tables going all night!

ALSO, Verdi Club’s bar got so slammed last time, they’ve decided to have THREE bars open this time, instead of just the one. No waiting!!!

RSVP and invite your friends!

Also, view this album of party pics from last time if you like viewing albums of party pics.

Biographical Info:

"I joked that living in the Mission would be the end of me. And there were nights where it felt like the case.

One night I went out with my friend Allan to the bar that no one goes to on 16th Street, where I lost half my drink and money on the dance floor. Later we skated down 16th to Evelyn Lee, where I fell off my board and landed on my head as the 22 bus sped past behind me. A sobering moment. At the bar, I sulked and nursed my wounds until Allan put on Amy Winehouse’s 'Valerie.' We danced, he dipped me, and I felt better."
