Where should you watch the Giants’ home opener?

Our buddy Rob over at Thieves thinks Thieves might be a good idea:

We’re having a free BBQ Friday at 1:30pm for the giants home opener at Thieves Tavern. There will be vegan options and almost every beer (except for Dogfish Head and Chimay) will be $1 with any shot that’s not well. Drafts and bottles.

Shots, beers, barbecue, baseball and vegan options: That’s what San Francisco does!

Where else might be good?

Beware the brown water

In the comments section of our post about last night’s big fire, a couple of neighbors that live nearby have noted that the water in their pipes is coming out brown.

So if you also live nearby, maybe test it out real quick this morning before blindly jumping in the shower, or downing your morning big glass of water.

Yes, I would absolutely like to see more Prince lyrics in street art form

The problem with this one is, I was at Muji the other day and learned that my Japanese shoe size is 27.5, which was like one of my favorite ages for sure.

But seriously, I’d like to see somebody do something with the Dynasty lyric. Or possibly better yet, with that song that has the same title as a Prince song but is waaay better.

P.S. Has everyone watched Under the Cherry Moon on Netflix Instant yet? It’s the best Prince movie.

Modern Times Bookstore losing its lease, seeking new digs

They’re getting kicked out of their current spot, but all is not lost:

As we approach our 20th year in this space and our 40th year as the Mission’s community bookstore, we have some unfortunate news to share: our landlord has decided not to renew our lease at 888 Valencia and has given us until April 30th to vacate our current space.

While this is sad, and happening more abruptly than any of us thought, it also offers us an opportunity to become a smaller store more focused on the needs and interests of our core customer base.

What a kickass silver lining! Read on.

Invasion of the googly eyes

This little guy is but one of many googly eyed little guys currently partying in the Mission, and this photographic evidence comes courtesy of Moka.

Here‘s another, and another. And a whole bunch more.

Dancing queen (of the laundromat)

All City is a new blog by former members of now-defunct photography collective Caliber. They continue to hang out in SF and take high-quality pictures of their adventures.

Biographical Info:

"I joked that living in the Mission would be the end of me. And there were nights where it felt like the case.

One night I went out with my friend Allan to the bar that no one goes to on 16th Street, where I lost half my drink and money on the dance floor. Later we skated down 16th to Evelyn Lee, where I fell off my board and landed on my head as the 22 bus sped past behind me. A sobering moment. At the bar, I sulked and nursed my wounds until Allan put on Amy Winehouse’s 'Valerie.' We danced, he dipped me, and I felt better."
