Cute Dog!

[via Hopped Up]

Ferocious Few projected onto various SF landmarks for sleek new music video

You’ve seen them in the streets, you’ve seen them in the park, you’ve seen them get busted in the park, you’ve seen them rock Bay 2 Breakers, you’ve seen them in weird little festival sideshows, and you’ve even seen them onstage at a proper rock club.

Today, you get to see the Ferocious Few in their very own official music video. And it looks gooood:

Bird Dog

Some bold imagery on a pretty choice canvas, somewhere in the vicinity of Bi-Rite.

I think I might have a nightmare about Bird Dog tonight: “Bark, bark, bark!” Flap, flap, flap! “Woof!” *Lays egg*

Gypsy Kitchen back in action

It was great to see Ryan and Kat serving up southern specialties at Mission United on Saturday. (I was too busy anticipating Frito pie in my mouth to take a good picture, sorry.) The food was amazing as ever, and business was booming, but it was bitter sweet knowing that this was just a one-off appearance. What if I want another Frito pie next week? Or five more whoopie pies right now?

I guess the best we can do is keep a close eye on the Gypsy Kitchen Twitter feed, so as to not miss anymore one-offs.

So, how does TCB work?

We talk about TCB Courier a lot. Some of us maybe know how it works. A lot of us maybe don’t. In the video below, TCB’s own Steve T. takes us through an average Rhea’s Deli delivery. Oh, and it’s set to an Oldies Night-inspired soundtrack, even better!

Be sure to consult the TCB website for a complete list of delis, restaurants and cafes they deliver for. And note that delivery is free for a number of places in the Mission!

(Thanks, Steve!)

Al Green’s Pharmacy

Mission-themed comedian Chris Garcia snapped this photo late last night and had this to say:

I knew bars in the Mission had specially themed “Soul Nights”. I didn’t realize pharmacies did, too.

Now you know, Chris.

What do you suppose they’re listening to in there anyway? Perhaps the old classic ”Here I Am (Come and Take My Blood Pressure)”? Or maybe ”Let’s Copay Together”?

Watch a video of Chris’ act here. It’s good. He makes fun of the Mission, but very lovingly.

Street Fighter II tournament coming soon to Mission laundromat

Seriously. Somebody set this up. Now you guys can quit playing at my place all time.

Just look out for Erika. She’s ”Asian kid at the laundromat good” apparently.

Also, look out for Charlie Sheen too.

Stand with Planned Parenthood, by eating cupcakes!

Apparently the Republicans are trying to mess with something almost as important as NPR. Cupcakes for Choice plans to combat this injustice:

By now, most people have heard about the U.S. House of Representatives voting to bar Planned Parenthood health centers from all federal funding for Lessina birth control generic pills, cancer screenings, HIV testing, and other lifesaving care.

Well, a lot of us think that’s bullshit and we’re pissed. So we’re taking our frustration and turning it into something good. Enter: Cupcakes for Choice!

Their inaugural event is today! Go buy some cupcakes, already! RSVP and invite your friends here!

Time to get debased

Our buddy Jamie wanted to go to the Elephant 6 show tonight really bad. So bad he bought tickets way in advance and everything. And he realized, “Oh, wait, I have to DJ at Debaser that night!” D’oh!

So, be sure to head over to the Knockout at some point this evening to help make Jamie’s sacrifice worthwhile. RSVP and invite your friends here.

P.S. Luckily for Jamie, and anyone else in his position (wanting to see Elephant 6 tonight but having to DJ at one of the most celebrated dance nights in recent San Francisco history), Elephant 6 is playing tomorrow at the Roxie too.

Oldies Night goodies

Oldies Night at the Knockout was a blast as usual. Here are a couple gems that really made the grade:

Primo spun this one I think a total of three times, because the crowd demanded it. It got better every time, and I think it’s about to get even better RIGHT NOW:

(And, don’t forget, Primo’s bringing his skills to Mission United tonight. And there’s free food.)

Biographical Info:

"I joked that living in the Mission would be the end of me. And there were nights where it felt like the case.

One night I went out with my friend Allan to the bar that no one goes to on 16th Street, where I lost half my drink and money on the dance floor. Later we skated down 16th to Evelyn Lee, where I fell off my board and landed on my head as the 22 bus sped past behind me. A sobering moment. At the bar, I sulked and nursed my wounds until Allan put on Amy Winehouse’s 'Valerie.' We danced, he dipped me, and I felt better."
