Reader Alexis sends us a note about an article in Concierge, a magazine I’ve never heard of before, titled “Ten Things Not to Do in San Francisco.”  The gist of the article is this: if you want to gawk at the youth and their “counter-culture,” you should avoid the Haight and go straight the Mission, home of “the real San Francisco-now experience.”

“Today weekend hipsters with day jobs in biotech have moved in, but the vibe remains decidedly experimental.”

Are “weekend hipsters” the new “weekend warriors?”  I think I just retched in the back of my mouth.

I know the Chronicle claimed they could not list a restaurant that “captured” the Mission, but merely two months ago they did just that:

Personally, I think that selection captures the driving force behind the Chronicle’s declining readership.

My friend Daniella loved ORFN more than anyone.  Then she moved to New York, and now all she gets is Dick Chicken:

Bummer.  Don’t move to New York, people, unless you want to see a CHICKEN with a DICK for a HEAD on all your trash receptacles.  Oh, and Dick Chicken’s slutty gf, Pussy Ham.  She’s a slab of HAM with a PUSSY.  Together, they make a really trashy reverse Chicken Cordon Bleu.

This weekend only (12/4 – 12/6) at Intersection for the Arts. KML are donating 25% of the ticket sales to the San Francisco Coalition on Homelessness.

I generally think seasons are overrated but nothing matches the beauty of dying leaves.  We don’t get much of a foliage in the Mission, but those rare patches of it are spectacular.

Update: problem solved.  I really hope wordpress dies a slow death.

The Chronicle’s Michael Bauer posted an interesting idea this morning: that each neighborhood has a restaurant that captures its essence.  He encouraged readers to write in with suggestions… but prefaced that “if you live in the Mission, there are too many to list.”

Cop out!  Curious as to what you Missionites would pick.  I assume suggestions posted here will be less pretentious than any over at Between Meals, so by all means, comment.  And sure, KevMo, you can vote for Bender’s.
