First of all, I’m a little bummed the Commonwealth folks decided to get rid of El Herradero’s Aztecky wraparound awning thing.

But if they hadn’t, we wouldn’t be treated to this view of some signage for Hunt’s Quality something or other. So it’s all good.

Hey guys, Mission coffee really is that good.

Spotted this Four Barrel love at Maialino, a fancy schmancy pasta place in NYC’s Gramercy/Flatiron neighborhood. Also, Gramercy Tavern, a top rated restaurant around the corner proudly serves Blue Bottle.

Turns out my coffee backup plan of bringing everyone beans from SF was completely unnecessary.

I spotted on 7th Ave & 28th. Once again, the Mission is the trendsetter.

Some drunken thief abandoned it at 22nd and Guerrero.  I called the cops and waited around for an hour but they failed to show.  I guess the standard procedure here would be to post a notice and have the owner describe its details?  What does one do with an abandoned stolen bike?

Come to think of it, we’re not quite sure what to do with it either, so the best thing to do is to see what the rest of you have to say about it!  So far, we only know what not to do.

This here is the official route map for some Critical Mass they had back in 2006. Tonight, “organizers” will meet at Dolores Park to “plan” the “route” for Friday’s ride.

What’s that you say? You, like me, thought Critical Mass was unplanned and spontaneous. Think again! Back in the day, apparently, routes were planned, destinations were decided upon in advance. And some want to bring that M.O. back. Head over to the “official” “unofficial” SF Critical Mass “website” to read all about it.

The meet is at 7pm at 18th and Dolores if you want in.

I was in a scooter gang in high school. Me and my buddy Morgan fixed up these old scooters from childhood, spray painted “Zero-X” on the backs of some surplus army fatigues, and rode around looking as tough as we could, sliding rails and hopping gaps at various neighborhood parking lots. We were badass.

One day, doing a routine rail slide on my way home from school, a bolt caught on a crack in the curb and I went over the handlebars, face first. I went home with a gash in my face, and one of my front tooths was gray for like a year. I scooted a couple more times after that, but couldn’t really bring the gusto. Zero-X was done.

It’s good to see those old scooters making a comeback. But be careful out there, kids.

Sometimes you just need a place where you can put your feet up.

Our friend Lisa has had the pleasure of living in Berlin for the past few months and finally made it over to that Dolores Burrito place that purports to serve real “Mission-style” burritos stuffed with all the same excellence that you would find at El Farolito or Cancun.  Her verdict?  Mixed, of course:

They cost about the same amount that you’d pay at a taqueria on 24th St. And they’re also comparable in monstrosity.

Menos puntos: they’re very very stingy about the chips!! Which I was very disappointed about. A side order of tortilla chips was 3 euros (= $3.68). Which is a heck of a lot more expensive than their usual price of…free.
