Sirron Norris Studio Bricked

Lydia Chávez at Mission Loc@l reports that a brick was hurled through the window of the Sirron Norris Studio on Valencia Street.

Lame for sure.

Source of the photo and the rest of the story here.

Also from Mission Loc@l, a new Reyes piece in the making on the Walgreens at 23rd and Mission.

Sirron Norris was previously covered on Mission Mission here.

Speedo Squad

Our buddy Annie (whom you might remember from her epic brush with niceness) caught this quick glimpse of something special happening in Dolores Park. Annie says:

Photo or video shoot, obviously, but I was on the J so I didn’t have enough time to guess at the plot. It looked like everybody was having a lot of fun, though.

A lot of fun shooting a new spot for Charlie Rose I bet.

Anyway, if you think this photo is fun, wait’ll you see the rest of Annie’s photostream.

Actual San Franciscan Went To That 'Mission Dolores Bar' in NYC

40 going on 28 made it out to the Mission Dolores Bar in NYC, and his review: “actually a cool place,” though lacking in a certain vendor authenticity.

If you want to hear more about his trip to NYC read on, and be prepared for some painful truths like:

I hate it when people compare New York to SF, because it’s totally not fair and NYC has 13 million people and a lot more land mass and Donald Trump and all we have is 49 square miles and Dolores Park and Frank Chu, but I can’t help it. New York is fucking awesome.

Dolores Park Playground Fails Playground School

Mission Local yesterday announced the release of a citywide playground report card, in which Dolores Park’s playground ranked amongst the lowest of the low. The failing grade indicates the playground is ill-signaged, under-equipped, dirrrty and unsafe.

Over at Curbed SF, Susie Cagle points out that just four years ago the same playground got a B, and asks whether this might be a case of politics undermining playground report card propriety.

You know, because the city wants everyone to get behind its forthcoming renovations.

The good news is, other neighborhood playgrounds rank amongst the highest of the high. Read on.

It Was Me That Was Shot

Manuel just left a comment on our post about the shooting at 29th and Tiffany the other day:

It was me that was shot. Im jus more worried bout the well being of MY daughter. She did not in any way have to witness her father being robbed at gun point, the shot at! I hope that man goes away long enough to think about his actions! I worked hard to save money to supply myself with things I want and for one idiot to attempt to take it away jus cause HE HAD A GUN! NOT going to happend that easy!

Group Art Opening at Guerrero Gallery (Not on Guerrero)

New-on-the-scene Guerrero Gallery will be hosting their second Group Opening this Saturday, which should make for a great place to check out a bunch of local artists (around 20 or so in fact).  Group openings are neat because they feature a ton of variety and you usually get a bunch of artistically-minded people all in the same place.  Throw in the fact that there will be free beer and a taco truck outside, and there’s a good chance that you’ll see me there zoning out in front of this piece by James Marshall waiting for the Magic-Eye sailboat to pop out.

The fun starts at around 7pm this Saturday at 2700 BRYANT Street.  Not on Guerrero!  That’s just the dude’s name!  Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
