Most Badass Cellphone Photography Crew on Internet Publishes Real-Life Zine

Cellybrain is a Flickr account that a bunch of people text rad photos to on a regular basis. It’s all cellphone photos, and it’s some of the best stuff on the internet.

And now you can get it in print. It’s a best-of compilation basically, so you run the risk of missing out on some choice B-sides or whatever. But definitely check it out.

Fun With Skitchin'

After all that hot debate about skitchin’ earlier this week, this scene was a pleasant surprise. But, is it true skitchin’ or ain’t it?

Who gives a shit? It’s cute.

[Photo by Man Freckles, who very nearly skitch'd off with a free messenger bag the other day. So close!]

Fridge Kat

Our pal -… has been on top of everything important lately. First the Nazi knives, now this.

Now can someone please paint us a mural based on this cute kitty? Divisadero Street should not get to have all the fun.

This is way better than that dumb Arcade Fire video everybody is telling you to watch today.

A Peek Inside Locanda

Since we first scooped this spot a while back, we’ve been wondering how the latest addition to Craig and Anne Stoll’s restaurant empire has been progressing.  Well, it looks like things are proceeding quite swimmingly for this Roman-inspired ATM, so much so that they might actually open on schedule in January! You can kind of discern the basic layout from this mildly-blurry photograph, as it seems there will be tables and stuff up front with kitchen in the rear to the left.

Do you think that this place has any chance to be even more popular than Delfina?  We say that as long as they still let the waitresses tape matches onto their nipples and light them on fire after hours [NSFW], Locanda is a lock to end up being another lottery ticket for the Stolls.

Also, Ramblas:  Never forget.

This

The Mission is really doing well fashion-wise lately. This is the second time this month I’ve had to title a post “This” after an outfit left me at a total loss for words. (Surely you’ll recall the last one.)

Anyway, this scene comes from Gravel & Gold. They titled it “Man Friendly,” which I guess addresses the fact that most of us wouldn’t immediately peg that coat as menswear. Shows to go ya.

Rad Volvo

I always say I’d like to see Joey Ramone, the Pope, Mickey Rourke and Lil Mama cruising around in the Mission’s famous turreted Cadillac. Who belongs in this speedy machine?

Reminder: 10 AM TODAY – Cesar Chavez Traffic Calming / Bike Lane SFMTA Hearing at City Hall

There’s an SFMTA hearing today at City Hall, 10 AM, Room 416, to discuss the bike lanes, traffic calming, left hand turn pockets, and eliminating some left hand turns.

Expect the typical NIMBY and you-ruin-my-commute opposition. Why not swing by and give some counter arguments?

For some historical perspective:

1874: Precita Creek, future path of Army / Cesar Chavez, via David Rumsey (West is up). Serpentine Avenue — the old northern boundary of the Bernal Rancho – had yet to be straightened out. You see reference to the sewer they are about to put in — the one that is about to be replaced over the next few years.

And some of the efforts at widening Army St over the years in conjunction with the mid century highwayfication of SF.

1940, @ Harrison:

I just want to be able to ride my bike down Cesar Chavez and not think I’m going to die, OK?
