Third Eye Blind played at Bottom of the Hill last night

Our pal Lindsey was there:

They didn’t play all of their “hits”, which is fine because goddamn, expected to play the same songs, and nothing but, for sixteen years. They did play “Wounded”, which is literally the only anything that makes me ever want to have a relationship again.

Read on to hear about the song’s Mission reference.

Drink of the Week: The Dude

Remember back in 1998 when everyone our age was mixing up White Russians at house parties all the time? “Like the Dude, duuude!” That sure was a bummer. (So many stomach aches!)

Thankfully, milk-based cocktails did not take the world by storm. But we’re about to talk about one anyway: “The Dude,” which has been appearing at the bottom of the kitchen menu at Dear Mom lately. It’s kind of a White Russian, but with ice cream and cookies, and it made for an awesome dinner the other night: burger, fries and a shake with booze in it. Pretty simple, but since this week marked the 15th anniversary of the release of the Big Lebowski, we thought this’d make an appropriate Drink of the Week :)

P.S. The “Scotcholate Milk” at KronnerBurger is pretty killer too.

Fire at Mission Market

This was three hours ago, and it looks like a fire crew was on the scene and took care of business?

UPDATE: Dumpster fire, one injury.

A flight of these three whiskeys will set you back $380

Three shots of whiskey: one $80, one $100, one $200. Yikes.

Bartender Luke (seen here at Whiskey Thieves in the Tenderloin) is charming, but not that charming.

Three kinds of slider on the Namu lunch menu

The first one is a pork belly, the second one is noodles and mushrooms, and the third is bulgogi. All killer, but the veggie version was particularly fun. (A definite step up from the cold leftover spaghetti sandos I often make myself.)

I love Namu fyi.

Biographical Info:

"I joked that living in the Mission would be the end of me. And there were nights where it felt like the case.

One night I went out with my friend Allan to the bar that no one goes to on 16th Street, where I lost half my drink and money on the dance floor. Later we skated down 16th to Evelyn Lee, where I fell off my board and landed on my head as the 22 bus sped past behind me. A sobering moment. At the bar, I sulked and nursed my wounds until Allan put on Amy Winehouse’s 'Valerie.' We danced, he dipped me, and I felt better."
