Thee Oh Sees and YACHT to headline this year’s Phono del Sol festival at Potrero del Sol

Awesome! The first time I ever saw Thee Oh Sees in San Francisco was at Potrero del Sol, at some kind of premiere for some kind of movie about surfing. It was awesome, and they’re always great outdoors, so this is going to be killer! (YACHT rules too! And don’t even get me started on B. Hamilton.)

Here are some ticketing details courtesy of The Bay Bridged:

Tickets are on sale right now, with a limited number of discount six-packs available (save $5 per ticket by grabbing six for you and your friends). VIP tickets are also available, which include access to a shaded viewing area for the main stage, drink tickets, VIP bathrooms, and a tour of Tiny Telephone Recording led by John Vanderslice.

Cool!

‘New Menu’ party at the Hideout (inside Dalva) tonight

Wow!

UPDATE: Bianca on our Facebook timeline gives us a more complete version of the story…

Wasn’t that “amusing” as you are despicting it. Just saying. Just left 16 and Mission Bart station and as I was approching the ticket exit, a completely naked man with his penis hard was backing a woman coming from work I assume against a wall and he threw her down to the ground. Someone tried to stop him and he ended up throwing the guy to the ground and then got on the ticket exit/entrance thing and squatted over for everyone to see his anus and then and then and then….. the point is that no one could control the situation and then he started going after an older man and had him by the neck. He was obviously on PCP since he was so strong and out of it ( i think???)) wtf! Everyone ran out and no one could help. I heard “the police were on their way” but we all ended up getting out of there. I didn’t stick around. Thank god my kids weren’t with me. Sad world and fucked up people. Fuck 16th/Mission Bart. At your own risk!

Apologies for taking the wrong tone.

Anti-Levi’s performance vandal Elle Ko returns to Valencia Street, uses dangerous etching cream to attack new Betabrand storefront

You might remember her from when she had lots to say about the temporary Levi’s popup on Valencia about three years back. Later, we suspected that she might have been part of a very elaborate and insidious Levi’s marketing ploy. (So maybe Betabrand hired the same marketing team? jk)

This morning she made an announcement on Twitter (and her Twitter remains tremendously engaging):

She’s right about the new Boards of Canada though, am I right?

Anyway, the thing is, she used some kind of gnarly etching cream that’s so dangerous she elected to also put up a homemade — and bilingual — warning sign:

How thoughtful!

This afternoon, Jefferson from Mission Bicycles, Betabrand’s neighbor, sent in all of these pics and filled us in on what Betabrand is exactly:

Who is Betabrand? (Hint: they are not owned by Liz Claiborne). The owner, Chris Lindland has lived here in San Francisco for 17 years. He started his company in the basement. In my opinion, here’s that makes them remarkable: They have not outsourced production to China, Bangladesh, or Potugal. They are not made in the USA. It’s made in San Francisco. They are local makers. The money stays here. They employe about 100 blue and white collar San Franciscans.

They are relocating their operation from Cesar Chaves to Valencia. Adding a retail space so their customers can come in and try stuff on and have a human interaction.

Sounds fine to me.

Here’s the finished piece:

And here’s a crew cleaning up the mess today:

In search of ‘Trick Dog Beardy Guy’

Trick Dog Beardy Guy – w4m – 29 (mission district)

We chatted about taxi apps and then my friend summoned me quickly, into a cab. I wanted to stay for that drink!

Aww!

The view from El Techo de Lolinda, the Mission’s brand-new (and one-and-only) rooftop bar

Pretty much the same as it always was, but now there’s a wraparound glass windscreen, really fancy Australian heat lamps, and solid menus of Latin street food and serious cocktails. New era!

El Techo de Lolinda opens to the public May 13th!

Biographical Info:

"I joked that living in the Mission would be the end of me. And there were nights where it felt like the case.

One night I went out with my friend Allan to the bar that no one goes to on 16th Street, where I lost half my drink and money on the dance floor. Later we skated down 16th to Evelyn Lee, where I fell off my board and landed on my head as the 22 bus sped past behind me. A sobering moment. At the bar, I sulked and nursed my wounds until Allan put on Amy Winehouse’s 'Valerie.' We danced, he dipped me, and I felt better."
